weekend photo diary #2.

after checking into the hotel, we waited for the rest of the family to arrive, then headed to the pool for a quick dip and
a drink before the parade.

view from the pool deck.

by this time, the crowds had already gathered and i was literally shooting pictures from in between people's legs.

bethany hamilton, inspiration behind the movie soul surfer.
attacked by a shark while surfing.

after the parade, soul surfer played on the big screen.
the beach was already packed, so we had to set up
camp on the sidewalk.

the crowd!

day 2
we set out early again, grabbed coffee, and made our way towards the beach to watch the canoe races.

so glad we got there early...
...before the paddling crowd came.

check out was at noon, so we ate lunch,
checked out, and headed home. sweet. home.
the weekend ended on a bit of a sad note for two reasons:
-as we were packing the car, i dropped my zoom lens. on the concrete. no camera bag. no padding. gahh. sad.
ok, not as sad as the next reason.
-sister #2 and her family had to say good bye to one of their dogs, lola. she had bone cancer. after receiving a call from my nephew saying she wasn't moving around, they rushed home to see her and decided to put her down.

up next: the zoo. stay tuned...

in case you missed it, check out:

Love the pics you got!

OMFG I'm soooo sorry about your camera and Lola :( that's so devastating... I just lost my doggie not too long ago. Ugh worse feeling ever and I know how it is to drop a camera.. TOTALLY PISSED OFF MODE.

Hope you feel better! :)

Your photos are spectacular! And so sorry to hear about Lola. It's awful losing a pet, they are like family.

That looks like it was an awesome parade. Bummer about their dog, it sucks losing a family pet.

That heat-changing nail polish looks cool. And I am still rather in awe that you live in Hawaii haha...
