meet me half way.

not mini, not maxi, but just right.
i've been lusting over those accordian pleated midi-skirts for a while now, and i finally came to the realization that they just aren't for me. the full pleats make me look wide, and the just below the knee length makes me look short. i felt this was a nice compromise. it still had enough volume, and the longer, almost maxi length paired with high heels lengthens a bit. plus is flows prettily in the wind, and it's machine washable.

do you prefer minis, midis, or maxis?

(skirt, old navy (buy); sweater, f21 (cute heart patches)(similar);
shoes, jessica simpson (similar))
asahi salad: shrimp, tofu, cucumbers and avocado over
a bed of lettuce with soy dressing.
we all have these caught-mid-shot-adjusting bloopers, right?

this started off as a background show that played while i was reading blogs. then, i noticed a couple of cast members from current popular shows like pretty little liars and twilight. i always like to see them out of their familiar element. the storyline isn't new...single mom and two daughters trying to make it in the big city, bratty rich kids vs. struggling "scholarship" kids, affairs and failed relationships. everything about the show is a cliche, but i found myself coming back for more predictable twists and mediocre acting.
for keeping me up till 1am, this one gets a:

The green and blue together is so great together!! I love the pleats and the elbow patches here in this look. I am more a mini skirt girl, or just to the knee. Anything else feels weird on me, I need to try out some maxi's though

Oh I Love that skirt! I ador the length, but what I love most is the color. Surprised it's from Old Navy. ON really on it as of late, huh?!!! I didn't see it in the store, last time I went. Does it run true to size? I'm normally a 10 or medium bottoms at ON. You think medium would be ideal?

Hope your week is off to a great start, love.

xx Love & Aloha

Really nice outfit. I liked the top with the elbow patches.
I actually like midis the most. And I think they are the only ones that look good on my figure. I like pencil skirt a lot, even since I was a teenager.

I've never had tofu on a salad...is it good? I think this length is perfect on you and just like you, the accordion pleated skirt is fun and I prefer it as a mini :)

So funny you indicate this is the right shape and cut for you cause this is the one shape I have major issues wearing. My legs are skinniest right in that area and it looks weird on me. Love the colors together.
I will have to check out the show.

I absolutely love this look. You did a fab job styling this skirt. I too realize that pleats in the midi/maxi length make me look huge. Lovely blog, I'm now following ;-)

haha- I watched that whole series on Netflix when I was home stuck after surgery! Its pretty cheesy but I liked it.

I never heard of Beautiful People, but it sounds interesting enough. Maybe I'll check it out during my winter break.

Since I'm short (damn you, Asian-ness), I like minis. Even tho, when I wear it, it doesn't look like a mini. LOL

OMG I love everything about this look! That patch sweater looks great with this skirt.. love it.

I think I'm a mini kinda gal cause I'm short and a maxi would make me look shorter but you match all three :)

I adore this look on you, I do. so preppy nouvelle.

i think you look awesome from my angle. haha! it's hard to choose but midi skirts sometimes make me look shorter while mini skirts make my leg appear longer and i haven't really tried the maxi skirt. i personally think you look awesome with maxi dresses and those mini's too.

haha! where does that leave the midi skirt. XD

I do like all three but with midi's however I must pair them with sky high heels like you've done. I grew up having to wear long skirts everyday for religious reasons so I'm a bit wary of them now hahaha. Great color combos btw!

Love your outfit and the colors! I, too, can't seem to work with midi skirts too well, although I have one that I desperately try to make work. It's about the same color as your skirt, too.

I just found a pleated knee length skirt from the Limited. I was worried it would be too long, but it turned out to be the perfect length!

I'm not sure if I responded to your comment on my blog about Outback Red, so I am doing so now. Have you had a chance to check it out yet? There doesn't seem to be a whole lot offered in the store, well, at least in my store, but it all looked really nice!

I love me a maxi, but for practicality, midis work best. Long enough to let me feel modest and not worry about the wind blowing my skirt up, and short enough not to get tangled up in my ankles when I'm walking around everywhere. I do like shorter hems in the warmer seasons though. I love the colour of the sweater and the skirt together here... and your salad is making me hungry!

Fashion Flirt said...

I love all three lengths - just depends what I'm doing! I'm really into the midi lengths right now, mostly because it is fun to flash a bit of brightly colours tights ensconces ankle, but be mostly covered up and protected from the frigid wind!

I love the elbow patches in cognac, echoed in the colour of those AMAZING platforms. Those flashes of nice warm colour in a nice cool coloured outfit really makes everything pop!
