a week of summer whites. nails.

finishing off this week of summer whites with white nails. it took me a while to warm up to white nails (i actually prefer black!), but it's a fun color that really pops against your tanned summer skin. my biggest beef with this opaque polish is that it can be difficult to apply; but with a fresh bottle of polish and a little patience, you'll have summery white nails in no time.

wearing spoiled by wet n wild in 'correction tape' accented with 'flirty flair' by jamberry nails. i've been wanting to try nail stickers for a while, so thanks to my girl, tiffany, for hooking me up with a few to try. definitely check her out if you are looking for something different for your nails. they have so many designs to choose from!

would you rock white nails?
have you tried jamberry nails or other nail stickers?

thanks to those who checked in on us. the first hurricane was downgraded to a tropical storm by the time it reached us. no major damage (on oahu), and we are ok! the second one is on its way, but is expected to head north missing the islands.

many businesses announced their friday closures in anticipation of the hurricanes. my 9-miler (race) was cancelled, mini-he's school closed, and even mini-she's first day of school was postponed until next wednesday. but aside from heavy winds and rains on thursday night, we woke up to nothing more than gray skies on friday. in fact, we spent the day playing tourist in waikiki, shopping, eating, drinking, and even walking the beach at night.

dean man's rogue (beer) + chicken pot pie.
you can see how huge it is compared to the phone!

in case you missed it:

Oh you are in Hawaii! I don't know why I didn't know that. Glad to hear that you guys are okay. I was just in the midst of planning a trip and Hawaii is one of our options.

Glad to hear you guys are all ok. Lets hope the second one misses too.

I'm a little like you and still unsure about the white nails. I have been painting them white but it reminds me of being a bored teenager at school and painting them with tipp-ex! (white correction fluid)

You did a great job with the white polish!! I have an itch every once in a great while to paint my nails white but I always get super irritated with the way the polish goes on unevenly and find myself unable to wait patiently for the first 2 coats to dry. And it always takes more than 2 coats :/ This is true for the yellows I've found too. I have yet to find a white or yellow that goes on evenly and doesn't require several coats.

Love the way your nails turned out!

So happy to hear that you and your family are all okay. My Dad lives in Hawaii and just happens to be home in Oregon now so he we were lucky.

I prefer black nails as well, but agree that white really does look good against tanned skin!

I am glad you are ok from the hurricane. I have a cousin that lives there so we were keeping up with y'all. It took me a little time to warm up to the white nails but once I saw how tan it make my skin look, I was on board, though I've had to practice applying. I never have cared for the black nails at all. I usually like black but I just don't the black nails, I guess it's too gothic looking for me. I have been enjoying your blog and your style and thanks for all your inspiration.
