dermagist review + GIVEAWAY.

after years of tanning in the sun [carelessly without sunscreen], i'm finally beginning to pay the price with sunspots and freckles. add to that a moderate case of melasma from my pregnancies, and i've got a "muddy" situation on my hands. living in a year-round sunny state doesn't help either...i take two steps forward with treatments while my constant exposure to sun pushes me one step back.

the Dermagist Skin Tone Correcting System is a two-part treatment that targets spots, discoloration, and uneven skin tone. unlike many treatments that are a one-step spot treatment, the Dermagist system uses a brightening accelerator to exfoliate dead, dull skin cells which prepares the skin to receive the nutrients in the brightening agent. both of these are applied to the entire face.

step 1: lather and apply "cleanser-like" gel accelerator
it's described as a gel, but it was more like a liquid.
step 2: apply thin layer of agent
not sure if my pump was missing a part, but i had to keep shaking the bottle or set it upside down to get the product to reach the pump.

after using the system for just a few days, i noticed an improvement; my skin tone actually appeared brighter.
my eczema-prone skin did experience a little irritation after the first week, but seeing the difference, i continued to use the products. by the end of the second week, my skin was back to normal and i didn't have any problems after that.

even taking into consideration lighting, flash, and make up,
you can see that the "muddy" areas on my cheek have improved.

after 30 days, my skin appeared brighter and the dark areas visibly lighter. the results are subtle, but enough to show that my skin would benefit from continued use of the
Skin Tone Correcting System.

Dermagist is giving one lucky reader their Complete Rejuvenation System, a $129 value. this overall anti-aging system improves the look of redness and enlarged pores, wrinkles and dark spots.

new blog.

just wanted to introduce you to my new mobile blog:
mobile morsels.
it's easy-to-read bits and blurbs of information that address all the burning questions in my [and maybe your] head.
for things we might wonder about or hear about, but aren't exactly sure about...i'm doing the research to get those questions answered. of course, fashion-related topics will
remain here on [oomph.].

if you're anything like me, you spend a lot of time on your phone checking social media feeds and surfing the web...so this blog is formatted to fit the smaller screens of your smartphones. plus the layout is clean and unfussy and easy
to read. scan the QR code to check it out.
don't have a smartphone?
you can always view it on your computer at:

hope to see you there!

cargo and stripes.

tgif.
this is the birthday weekend for my family...mom, dad, niece, brother-in-law...all in a row. we have one big lunch planned for saturday, but i know we will have mini celebrations for each person on their actual birthdays. that means a whole lotta cake.

i must have a thing with wearing my cargo vest with stripes because i've done it here, here, and here.
maybe it's coincidence, or maybe it's because it seems
to make the stripes pop. either way, i like it.

what's your favorite combination these days?

one was not enough...

i remember the days of going out with the girls...it was a ritual that started early in the evening. we'd all meet at someone's house to get ready together, have a few drinks, then hit the town. sometimes, this was the best part of the night.

jelly of a time.

this weekend had a nice balance of work and play. saturday was a full day of volunteering at the aquarium...standing on my feet for five hours straight making hats out of paper plates. it was supposed to be a kids' activity, but it proved to be too difficult for the little ones. i met up with the minis when i was done, grabbed some much needed sustenance at a nearby restaurant on the beach (view=good, food=not so good), let the minis take a dip in the ocean, and finally headed home. my body was so tired, i fell asleep by 9pm. sunday was a much more relaxing day. after the usually morning classes and errands,
we went to the pool and jacuzzi and swam until we turned
into raisins.

guys, i'm really struggling with finding time to take pictures. i've already used up all of my save-for-a-rainy-day drafts.
next week is swimming class sign-ups, and i'm hoping to find
a different day that will free up my sunday mornings again.
until then, you may see a sponsored post or two to help
fill the gaps. normal programming to resume shortly.

the jellyfish was our favorite.
so was this cute little girl.
let's hope we don't ever step on one of these urchins.

steady hands.

of course, the day i had an opportunity to snap a few pics, i wasn't wearing anything blog worthy. just a casual friday outfit built around these shoes. in fact, all of my recent outfits have been built around these shoes, meaning lots of pencil skirts and cropped jeans. the fact that they are really comfortable doesn't help, but i'm sure i'll grow tired of them soon (not!).

tomorrow i'm volunteering at an event at the aquarium. i'm looking forward to it since it's been years since my last visit.
not sure what i'll be doing, but hopefully i can sneak away to take a few pictures.

what are you doing this weekend?

out of the blue, mini-he asked me to find
those "square things with the dots."
so, here's a couple of the creations i made with my steady hands!

garden variety.

after finishing my week of blazers last month, i realized that there were a few voids that needed wanted to be filled. one was for a floral blazer. this one from sheinside works perfectly with my current semi-casual wardrobe. its white base makes it versatile enough to be worn during summer months, and y'all know that we have a lot of those around here. i've already worn it to the office over a black dress and hope to find the perfect denim cutoffs to wear with it next.

this weekend, i actually saw a movie...in a theater. i got to spend some quality time with mini-she, and she wanted to see
the odd life of timothy green. it was good. really good.
i cried my false eyelashes off. and i NEVER cry.

how was your weekend?

pure wicked.

i finally found my perfect tee...this v-neck from the GAP pure collection. i want to go back and get a white one, too. it's super soft but still has enough structure to not look sloppy. i've worn it with jeans and even tucked into a pencil skirt
for work...it's that versatile.

my weekend outfits are usually some variation of this. it's simple and unfussy which is my goal when chauffeuring the minis around. to complete the look, i make sure to wear a pair of oomph-worthy shoes, like these wicked spiked, leopard loafers. they really are wicked...the spikes are pointy enough that mini-he started crying when he stepped on my shoes. eek!
