[oomph] adventures. kolekole pass.

last weekend we ventured just a few miles from home to this gem of a location. kolekole pass is located on a military base in central oahu. this hike is short and quick (15-20 minutes) with rewarding views of wai'anae valley. since the trail is only open on certain weekends, we took advantage and came back a second time. all of these photos were taken with my iphone6 using a hitcase waterproof/shockproof case and a trueLUX™ super wide angle lens.

do you have any hidden gems near your home?

first lookout facing north.
the trail isn't supposed to be open when there is live fire, but we heard live fire when we were there!
the steepest part of the trail, a couple short flights of stairs.
we took a wrong turn and ended up here...
...but later found the real spot!

thanksgiving home decor.

i look forward to the holidays every year, but then it's gone in a flash. i'm all for surrounding ourselves with the holiday spirit by bringing festive touches into the home. you don't have to transform your entire house (unless you want to!) but a pillow here, a candle there, a wreath on the door is all it takes to get into the mood.

here are a few fun picks. a cozy throw for chilly evenings with hot cocoa, cute lights for an outdoor cafe feel,..and my favorite? the turkey candle. because, who doesn't want a turkey candle? aside from the wreath, these items are all on sale! in addition, many of the websites are offering 5-15% off just for signing up for their newsletters allowing you to save more. this is also a great time to stock up for next year's holiday season.

what are you thankful for this year?

Periscope. Scope Day.

hello friends...it's been a while. things have been hectic around here as our office is relocating, but i wanted to drop in and say, I MISS YOU ALL! how have you been...what's new? tell me in the comments!

a while back, kim, at a very sweet blog, introduced us to periscope. the app lets you broadcast live from your phone to the world enabling others to 'see the world through your eyes'.

Around the World in a Day
Saturday, November 7, 2015
6 continents | 62 broadcasters | 43 cities

on saturday, november 7th, i will be part of Scope Day, the brain child of Mike Lin. it is a collaboration of 62 broadcasters (including 12 musicians) around the globe who will be showing you attractions and landmarks from their cities in a pass-the-cast format. the event kicks off at 5:15 am PST in cairo, egypt and ends 16 hours later in new york. each broadcaster gets 15 minutes before passing their viewers on to the next broadcaster waiting in the wings.

i will be broadcasting live from hawaii at 3:45pm local time (5:45pm PST).
find me on periscope at oomph.

you can watch us live and interact via the periscope app.
or
watch live on your computer via twitter links (#scopeday).
or
if you miss the live broadcasts, you can watch the replays via

details:

follow Scope Day on periscope at @ScopeDay to get notifications of each live broadcast. the scope day account follows all of the featured broadcasters.

check out Scope Day on twitter | facebook | instagram for more information and to see the schedule of all the broadcasters and their locations.

the 12 musicians will be covering taylor swift songs in hopes of convincing her to broadcast live for the very first time on periscope (we have saved her a time slot).

ever wanted to see the pyramids in egypt? the french alps in france? the tallest building in hong kong? and more and more from africa, ireland, japan to name a few? best of all? this trip is free.

hope to see you there.

patterned clutch.

i was excited to hear that love & sunshine is coming out with a new fabric clutch. i'm already obsessed with my leopard pouch and i'm loving the fresh print on their new design. you can see a better picture of it here. keep your eye out on their instagram page for its availability.

wearing a white leather tee and jeans with a camel colored jacket...a neutral yet complementary backdrop for this pretty patterned clutch.

is it friday yet?

fall neutrals.

my friendship swap bag included a couple of long cardigans which are perfect for fall. this grey open-style cardigan was one of them. you can't go wrong with a neutral palette and, of course, a pop of color with bright pink lips from laqa & co. and this burgundy clutch from love & sunshine.

this was a weekend of exercise, nature, and food. we conquered two hikes (caught the sunrise from diamond head and the sunset from aiea) and i tried a new restaurant. love full weekends like these.

what's your ideal weekend?
do you like neutral for fall or bright colors?

saturday's sunrise hike to the top of diamond head crater.
bills sydney in waikiki. there's a cafe ground floor on the right (not pictured) and main restaurant upstairs. i think it's a little pricey for breakfast, but it hit the spot.
much needed first cup of coffee post-hike...very heavy and thick, but good! ($3.50)
interior. simple but grand with the high ceilings. love the woodsy outback vibe.
one of their specialties, the ricotta hotcakes with banana and honeycomb butter ($15). very yum. seafood kim chee fried rice in the background ($16). tasty but salty. probably wouldn't order that again. also ordered lemonade ($5). parking $6 + tip = $50+ breakfast.
sunday's sunset hike at aiea loop trail.
carnitas tacos after the sunset hike (plus a watermelon cooler and molten lava cake!)

down with the duster.

it's starting to get chilly here, and i'm excited to wear my scarves and sweaters again. and while i'd also love to rock the classic trench or a fur coat (yeah right!), i'm keeping it on the lighter side with a cardigan duster. after all, mid-day is still around 80 degrees. this one from my friendship swap is the perfect fall color, too.

are you down with the duster?

cowl neck dress.

since it's summer year round in hawaii, we miss out on seasonal things, like fall fashion. when the weather cools, we jump at the occasion to layer up and break out the boots and jackets. i'm still waiting for the day i can wear a leopard fur coat...but until then, it's all about compromise. this LBD from patty's closet is a perfect example. its slightly higher cowl neck and thicker material are bearable because it's sleeveless. and since it's textured, it really doesn't need much...simple heels, a statement necklace, and a red lip. that is all.

do you experience the seasons where you live?

hilltop views of the honolulu skyline.
these clay cafes are making a comeback here. if you follow me on snapchat (@ rockoomph), you know what i made. can't wait to see the final product!
