experimenting with extremes. animal prints.

i happened to catch an episode of confessions: animal hoarding yesterday, which featured a woman who acquired 82 cats. in addition, she and her husband were trying to have a baby.
although i'm a dog person, i would never harm or turn away a cat that needed help...but 82 is a bit...extreme. i couldn't stand to watch the whole thing, but i sure hope that their families were able to convince them to hold off on the baby plans until the house was better suited for a child.

i began to think about extremes.
we're crazy about mixing patterns like stripes and florals,
so why can't we mix animal with animal?
i kept it safe by keeping the ensemble neutral, as well as choosing pieces with the same color base.
then, added color with accessories.
sure, i'll get some looks...but it can't be worse than
82 cats and a baby.

and some cool sky pics i never got around to posting.
06.20.11 UPDATE:
submitting "v-formation" pic below to
twisted fate photography's photo challenge: clouds.

"v" formation...totally freaky.
"surprised" look, as directed by mini-she.
felt like the sky was closing in on us.

Speaking of animal hoarding ... Not that any of you are but it's my job to bring this issue to the attention of as many people as I can.

I'm a researcher for the series Confessions: Animal Hoarding, currently airing on Animal Planet that tells the stories of people overwhelmed by the number of pets they own. The problem is on the rise and affect communities across America.

If you are concerned about the health of animals in someone's care and suspect they may be hoarding them, we might be able to help.

Most animal hoarders don’t see themselves as hoarders, and sometimes don’t intentionally collect animals. Their relationship with their animals has threatened their relationships with friends and family.

Most of these situations aren’t dealt with until they become criminal. This results in animals being euthanized by over-stressed shelters, and doesn’t address the underlying psychological issues - meaning nearly 100% of people end up in the same situation again.

We are dedicated to finding comprehensive long-term solutions and believe therapy to be key to this. We can bring in experts to help people and their pets.

If you or someone you know needs help because animals have overrun their life, visit www.animalhoardingproject.com to learn more and submit their story. Alternatively, contact me directly at help@animalhoardingproject.com or toll-free at
