simplicitee.

my latest craving is simple oversized tees.
i recently saw a picture of a loose white tee, cut up on the sides with a small navajo inspired print on the front. can't find the picture, but i can't stop thinking about it either. i was saving this black tee to make this one...as soon as i can figure out how and what to use for the cross. suggestions welcome. in the mean time, i widened the neck, chopped off the bottom, and fringed the sleeves to satisfy this morning's craving for something similar to the vision of the white tee
in my mind.

  4. I love the fringed shoulders!! It's really simple but chic, especially with that necklace. I hate when I have an image in my head that I love but can't find the original!

  5. Cool cool cool. I saw a tee done once with a design similar to the cross, made entirely of safety pins just pinned very neatly on. You could totally do that and get the same look. If you do, post pics!

    merci!

  26. oh i love the modifications! t-shirts are so fun to cut up and experiment with. for the cross, the cleanest, nicest way to do it would be screenprinting it on. there are various places that do custom screenprinting, you just have to do a little research in your area.

  37. I can't believe how fantastic you look, just in an oversize t-shirt. It would come off more frumpy than anything else on me.

You are such an amazing accessorizer :)

(that's totally a made up word, isn't it?)

  39. I like the fringed sleeves a lot!

I think you might enjoy this song by Cree Summer called Revelation Sunshine. The music video is very American Indian-centric in it's theme (she grew up on a reservation), and her unusual clothing style rocks!

I.T.O. what you can use to make the cross...fabric paint would work, but might not give an entirely perfect finish. If you can find someone to silkscreen the design onto it, it would be a a perfect finish (but that eventually comes off in the wash). Here in SA, you can also get shops where you take in a photo, and they use fabric ink to print the design onto the shirt.

Now I'm out of ideas. :-)

  44. I love it! You can definitely pull of all those fringes! :) And your necklace is amazing. Stands out a lot the way you've worn it!

I suggest that you use a white tee or jersey for the cross on that black tee, that way, it doesn't feel weird when you cut it. Or, you can just paint it on with acrylic paint.
