last weekend we had a birthday luau to attend in waimanalo.
we rarely come out to this side of the island,
so we took full advantage of the day here.
after the party with good hawaiian food and bounce houses for the minis, we went across the street to waimanalo beach park.
the water here is absolutely gorgeous and the view of the two islands off shore is picturesque.
it was well worth the drive.
i've been wanting to go down there, but i'm sure
the hike down with minis + gear in tow would be stressful.
mini-she snapped pictures for me since i was driving...
she always makes sure to include a few of herself.
waimanalo beach.
mini-she got pounded in the shorebreak...sand in the hair, yuck.
rabbit island and flat island.
the water was absolutely gorgeous...
until we found portuguese man o' war.
these normally appear during the ninth day after the full moon, but are more present on the east shore because of the constant wind blowing onshore.
mini-he just likes to get sandy...double yuck.
we ended the night as sister #2's house for dinner and games.
she had the adult beverages waiting for us.
look how tanned the kids are!
(nephew/niece)

ReplyDeleteAhhh beach, sand, blue water; It's like you live in heaven. Then you show me this thing. Yeah I called it a thing. Although it looks cool I read up on it on the wikipidea link you provided. It does not sound fun at all! I say that is more yuck than sand.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Bre

Gosh, I so love Hawaii. I would pack up and move there in a heartbeat if I had the chance--so long as I was far away from the shoreline, in case of tsunamis, oh, and a good distance from the few active volcanoes, and then there's the whole hurricane thing (though rare in Hawaii, it would be just my luck that one would hit). Meh, I'd still love to live there.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the fam had a blast! One of my kids would probably have grabbed the man o' war and ended up with some sort of allergic reaction from the sting. lol!
Also, thanks for the low down on Skinny Girl Margaritas--I came across this post today and thought of you! http://howtodoeverythinginhighheels.blogspot.com/2011/08/how-to-make-skinny-girl-margarita.html
Looks great & gorgeous swimsuit ^^.
