this christmas, i started two new traditions at home:
in a nutshell, your personal family elf (stuffed doll) appears (mom brings out of the storage) during the holidays to watch over the kids. each night he flys home to the north pole while the kids sleep to report back to santa. then he flys back before the kids awake and is always in a different place (mom finds a new spot). it's an incentive for kids to be good, and provides a fun game to see who can spot him first every morning. it hasn't helped with the bad behaviors in our house, but it's cute to see mini-he tell him all the good things he's done.
he named our elf, crispy.
12 days of christmas
to teach the minis that christmas is also about giving, i am giving them a present each of the 12 days, then christmas day is their day to give presents to others when the family comes over. on day three, mini-he caught on and now runs to the tree every morning when he wakes up. it's not going over so well with mini-she...i know she's still wondering if there will be anything under the tree on christmas.
tell me about your holiday traditions!
i'm being featured over at breakfast with tiffany today.

I love those jeans. Have you received my gift I sent you? xoxo
ReplyDeleteWe use the elf too! It can be such a great 'too' to get the little ones to behave this month!
ReplyDeleteI love that sweater of yours...nice job styling it!
The elf on a shelf is a great idea. I fear that this year might be the last year my son believes in Santa though... So not sure if I could get that to work for me next year.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the sweater over the stripes.

Those jeans are so festive! I love them! And ha, I laughed out loud at mini-he naming your elf crispy. That is so cute!
ReplyDeleteyour new traditions sound lovely. Since it's been a while since I've spent Christmas with the fam, my husband and I try to have our own "traditions" during the holidays. Nothing special, mostly that we don't work or do school stuff during the 24th and 25th, that and we cook the dinner together. hahaha. sooo boring compared to CRISPY! that is the most adorable name ever. I want to hug mini-he right now!
ReplyDeleteYour outfit looks spectacular, dear. I love all your accessories because you have the bestest ones! I also really WANT that strawberry mochi. omg. want.

LOVING the pants and the shoes!!! Since I don't have kids, it's just getting gifts for the lil nephews and nieces and spoiling the heck out of them hehehe...I leave it to their parents to parent :) We all get together on Christmas day for dinner and presents. As long as we're all together, I'm happy :)

Cute look, I really like your turquoise ring. I love the Elf on the Shelf, it's the neatest idea.
ReplyDeleteLove the Elf on a shelf idea and your super cute outfit! I'd never heard of the elf thing before this year and now it seems to be popping up everywhere..
ReplyDeleteLove those shoes. I envy you your non-boot weather. My family's only real tradition is that we just open all our gifts after midnight instead of waiting until morning, but save our Christmas stockings for the morning. That way everybody can sleep in nooo problem hah.
ReplyDeletethese golden jeans are amazing!!! happy holidays gal:))
ReplyDeleteI love the pants!!! Lovely look :)
