hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. i'm currently recovering from an eight-mile run i did yesterday, but i'll share more about that later this week. with mini-she busy with school play rehearsals and track meets, i got to spend some QT with mini-he. we saw the movie the nut job, spent some time at the beach house, and watched a chinese lion dance at my friend's shop.
i usually steer clear of body conscious clothing or reserve them for days when i'm feeling "skinny" in the mid-section. but here's a few things that help me feel more comfortable in bodycons:
- big hair. the fullness balances out the skinniness
and draws attention upward.
- prints. busy patterns camouflage unsightly bulges. designs that give the illusion of skinny, like the triangular print
on this aztec bodycon, also help.
- a long necklace. helps to break-up all that material and draw some attention away from the mid-section.
how was your weekend?
feeding the lion dollar bills.
about the chinese lion dance: lion dance troupes visit shops of the chinese community and perform a traditional dance that is believed to bring good luck and fortune to the businesses. auspicious green vegetables are hung with a red envelope containing money, and in the traditional cai qing [literally meaning 'plucking the greens'], the lion eats the greens and spits it out, keeping the red envelope as a reward.
mini-he got to try on the lion's head!

Honey! You are a "fly" mama! I love this dress on you.
ReplyDeleteWell done on the race too...see dailymile comment.
My little one was learning about the Lion dancing in class last week and boy, it take a lot of stamina to dance in the costume. What a beautiful tradition and custom.
Looks like a great, festive weekend was had by all!
Nice dress and super cute nails!

Hooray for pretty dresses, extra one-on-one time with mini-he (did you guys like that movie? my kids have been wanting to see it) and congrats on the 8 miles! Holy smokes!
ReplyDeleteyes, we liked the movie. my son laughed a lot throughout!
DeleteI don't think you need wait for a 'skinny' day as you are that everyday and this looks great on you. I do agree on you all those points especially the prints. I think solid colored ones really require a perfect body. The material also helps too.
ReplyDeleteYour son looks so adorable. Did you guys see the 'lego movie' ? it was awesome.
Daphne.
we went to see the lego movie, but it was full...that's why we saw nut job! hope to see it soon, tho!
DeleteLove the pattern on that dress and that bag goes well! I would have never thought to pair it with that dress. I love Chinese dragons, I've seen a few shows too.

Every once in a while they'd have a little parade and a Chinese Lion would dance its way down the main thoroughfare in Chinatown when I lived in Ottawa. I miss those little things, Chinese culture is so beautiful and elaborate. And dear lady, don't worry about silly 'bulges'! You're the only one who notices those things, you look amazing no matter what you're wearing. I have to agree with you on the loud prints camouflaging things though, it's the only reason I'm comfortable wearing this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/51137713@N06/10348115793/ :P
