and they're off.

on the weekends, i live for breakfast.
love, LOVE breakfast.
i'm not even talking waffles and omelettes and
eggs benedict and all that jazz.
just the usual breakfast.
but it's the one meal i don't have time for during the week. i usually slap together a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for the road. however, on the weekends, i love to indulge in several bowls of cheerios or oatmeal squares...you know how you keep adding cereal to finish up the milk? or slow-cooked steel cut oatmeal topped with fruit and a little milk. buttered toast sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. plain greek yogurt with fresh fruit and granola. raisin bagel thins with
strawberry cream cheese.
plus, flax seed or wheat germ sprinkled over everything.

fortunately, the minis have been conditioned to eat this stuff.
now that they are in school, i have no control over what they eat during the day, so i feel good knowing that
i at least gave them a good start.

what's your healthy start?

bodysuit c/o reva from a previous accessory swap.
on the weekends, my healthy start:
oatmeal with milk, topped with chopped apples, flax seed,
and prunes (or raisins/cranberries...whatever's on hand)
(bodysuit, accessory swap (similar)(gorgeous splurge); denim shirt,
victoria's secret (similar)(similar);
shoes, ebay (similar); shorts, op (similar)(similar))

what's the next line?

calling all authors.
(yes, you!)
want to be a part of something fun?
help write the story.
i used to do this exercise with mini-she to help improve her writing and just to get her creative juices flowing. i'd write a sentence, then have her write the next line. we'd keep passing this around to whoever was home, and in the end we'd have this fabulous (and sometimes hilarious) story. nobody gets to see the story as it is being written, ONLY the previous sentence. sometimes i'd give a theme to start with (for example: a christmas story) or i'll start with a title, or sometimes i'll just start with the first line and see where the story ends up.

i tried it once among facebook friends, and it was a success...so i thought i'd try it out here. if you are interested in writing the next line, let me know!

so, basically, i'll send you a line and you'll reply back with the next sentence, expression, phrase, etc.
one sentence, one phrase, it's that easy! you don't have to THINK about the story, just write the next line.
in the end, i'll post the story here for everyone to read.

make sure to leave me the best (fastest) way to reach you (email, twitter, etc...) so that i can keep the story moving. depending on how many people we get,
i may hit you up several times for a line.

you can email me here, too.

join in, it's really fun!

i often come across cool products that usually
just get bookmarked and forgotten.
thought i'd start sharing them here via links a la [oomph.].

i came across butter LONDON a few years ago while searching for safe polishes for mini-she. i loved the idea behind their 3 free polishes that are made without the use of harmful ingredients like formaldehyde, toluene, and parabens. unfortunately the shipping to me at that time was kind of high, but i still receive their emails in the event that they offer free shipping.

they recently introduced their nail skins. of course the leopard caught my eye, but the other two designs available are really cute...nothing i've seen before.
