we've been jingled.

we woke up to a package on our doorstep this morning.
it contained a box of hot chocolate, christmas candies,
and these instructions:
-place the 'we've been jingled' sign on your house
(so that other neighbors know we've been gifted already)
-secretly jingle (gift) another neighbor
-watch as the signs pop up on the houses and maybe figure out who jingled you.

i think our halloween block party may have opened the door
to other neighborly bonding activities.

have you ever been jingled?

simple.

whew, what a great weekend.
hope everyone enjoyed theirs by eating a lot of good food, spending time with family and friends, and even checking a few things off their christmas lists. that's what we did!
scroll down for the deets.

did anyone brave the malls on black friday?
what kind of deals did you score?

preschool luncheon for mini-he...they sang a few songs before lunch and even prepared a special dessert for us.
hosted and cooked a simple thanksgiving lunch at our house for my sister's in-laws. turkey and baked salmon on the menu, followed by bingo for prizes.
i was one number shy of a blackout!
next up was a catered thanksgiving dinner at my sister's house. honey roasted bone-in ham & honey roasted turkey with mochi rice, veggies, salad, shrimp/egg rolls/wings/dumplings appetizers, and pumpkin crunch on the menu.
we also celebrated my sister's birthday.
and finally, a bit of black friday shopping.
stocked up on my favorite button-ups and long-sleeved tees.

mini-he sang this to me:

mr. turkey, mr. turkey
run away, run away
you outta be careful, or you'll be a mouthful
thanksgiving day, thanksgiving day!

just wanted to wish you all a happy thanksgiving.

been loving this red again.
lips: mac dare you

how are you celebrating thanksgiving? are you cooking?
what's your favorite red lipstick?

le ombre.

while out and about this weekend, mini-she and i made an observation...women everywhere were wearing their scarves. we had wind, rain, and chilly evenings this weekend making it the perfect opportunity for me to break out my scarves. everyone else had the same idea. guess that's how hawaii does winter.

i am absolutely loving this ombre chain wrap bracelet.
its big links make it a nice statement piece, but it's still light enough to be comfortable. the oomph-worthy part is that
i can wear it with silver or gold, and versatility is
always a plus in my book.

(le ombre wrap bracelet c/o libi & lola (buy))
mini-he's bubble creeped into the photo.

based on black.

thanks for sharing about your cars in the last post. from VW to lexus to honda...some of you have been driving your cars for a while, which tells me that they are reliable cars. good to know, and i will keep this in mind as i continue my search.

a black base keeps this mish mash of prints and textures cohesive. guess that's one good thing about having a lot of black in my closet...i can throw things together and somehow it works.

what's your secret when mixing prints?

search is on.

this weekend, i began the task of looking for a new car.
i've had my car for eight years, so i'm totally out of the loop...there are so many new models out there. if i could take my pick, i'd go for the range rover evoque or the all-new range rover. buuuut, i don't think those are an option as long as i'm putting two minis through school. if you don't mind sharing, tell me what you drive and why you like it.

had this dress for years...one of those dresses that looked cute in the store, not so much when you got home. wanting a white dress to wear with my red plaid, i started fussing with it. seems better shorter, held in place with a hidden belt.

beef short ribs in the slow cooker...
had to sub boneless ribs, but still came out nice and tender.
1/3 cup soy sauce
1/3 c brown sugar
1/4 c rice vinegar
3 cloves garlic, smashed
1 tbl fresh grated ginger
combine above ingredients in slowcooker.
8 beef shortribs
4 med carrots, halved
add ribs and carrots in single layer.
1 small cabbage, quartered
place cabbage on top.
five-six hours on high.
remove ribs and veggies.
thicken sauce with cornstarch, add 1 tbl sesame oil.

(linen dress, guess; plaid, go jane (buy); military, thrifted; shoes, aldo)

century 21.

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of CENTURY 21 for SocialSpark.
All opinions are 100% mine.

one of the great things about the blogosphere is that i am constantly being introduced to new places to shop. down side to that? not many of those places are here in hawaii. but if they have an online store, you can believe i'm all over it. so i was excited to hear about Century 21 Stores. it's over 150,000 square feet of shopping. incredible fashion for
women and men, linens, decor, and more.
top designer brands at incredible prices.

you can also shop C21 24/7 online. there you will find flash-type sales with the same great brands. i just signed up for my free membership and was amazed at the affordable prices. below are a few items that caught my eye.

emerald jeans $29.97

leopard blazer $49.97

polka dot blouse $19.97

visit the Century 21 facebook page to enter the Empire Hotel sweepstakes for a chance to win a $500 C21 wardrobe makeover and a two-night stay at the iconic Empire Hotel in NYC!

p is for pink.

accident update.
turns out the guy who hit me didn't have insurance, didn't have a driver's license, and gave a bogus phone number.
total. buzzkill.
adjuster came to look at the car, and it's looking like a total loss...meaning the cost to repair the car (which is estimated at over $10,000) is more than the car is worth. now i'm forced to buy a car that i really can't afford right now.
double. buzzkill.

i love these boyfriend shorts. they are so comfortable;
i want to get them in every color.
oh, wait...i can't...gotta buy a car instead.

the best halloween treat in the bunch...

halloween.
car accident.
slammed from the back, pushed into the car in front.
stretcher. ambulance ride. er.
stiff neck. backache. nausea.
i'm ok. the aches get better everyday.
now i'm dealing with insurance claims and all that fun stuff.

and because of another major accident on the freeway that day, i didn't get home until 8:30 pm. poor mini-he missed out on trick-or-treating. luckily we had our halloween block party last weekend. at least he got to wear his costume once.

wearing the No nonsense leggings i talked about here.

this was the most uncomfortable contraption ever.
