pink queen. swimwear.

shopping for swimsuits is a daunting task. the pressure of finding one that you are comfortable in...i mean, one that you are comfortable being seen in is huge. especially here where the beach is a big part of our lives. so when i do find one,
i buy several no matter what the cost.

i was excited to find this v-neck fringe monokini at Pink Queen. similar suits retail for $99+ at other stores, but at Pink Queen? $20. i was sold on the style and price, but what would the quality be like? more importantly, would it fit?

the quality of this v-neck fringe bikini is excellent. it has a nice stretch to it, and i didn't find any flaws in the stitching. sometimes one-piece suits are too long for me, but this one fit perfectly on the top and bottom. plus, it provided the right amount of coverage for my troubled areas (stomach and rear!).

one of my favorite beaches, semi-secluded enough to work
on these unsightly shorts tan lines.

if fringe is not your thing, Pink Queen has over 800 swimsuits to choose from. in addition, they have denim shorts, costumes (halloween will be here in no time!), and cute leggings, skirts, and dresses in the popular galaxy print...
all at affordable prices.

have you shopped at Pink Queen? tell me your favorite item.

*i was provided one swimsuit to review. all opinions are my own.

guest post: beauty and the beach.

while some of you are experiencing cold winters, others have just begun their summers, and some have warm weather year round. which means, it's always a good time to shop for swimwear. susan of beauty and the beach introduces you to InStyleSwimwear.com.

InStyleSwimwear.com – The Authority on Sexy Designer Swimwear

Even for those who are addicted to online shopping, certain purchases, such as designer swimwear, are better left for traditional in-store shopping, right?  WRONG!  Enter InStyleSwimwear.com, an online retailer specializing in fashionable designer swimwear, beachwear and the like.

If you’re hesitant to buy your bathing suits online, InStyleSwimwear.com will help put your mind at ease.  Unlike some other retailers, they know their designer swimwear in and out.  They have their inventory on-location, so if you need to inquire about a certain size, color, etc., their Customer Service reps are happy to pull styles and bust out the measuring tapes.  In addition, InStyleSwimwear.com offers round-the-clock Customer Service.  During business hours, their designer swimwear experts can be reached via phone, email and live chat.  But for all the weekend and night-time shoppers, they can even answer your urgent questions via Facebook and Twitter!  And if for some reason you’re not happy with your purchase, InStyleSwimwear.com has an easy 90-day return policy—
no questions asked!

Right now, many store locations don’t have a huge swimwear selection, especially those located in cooler, more temperate climates.  But InStyleSwimwear.com already has the hottest 2012 designer swimwear styles in-stock!  If you’re searching for sexy, exclusive styles that will help get you noticed and stand out from the crowd, check out InStyleSwimwear.com.

heading south.

my nephew left for college yesterday.
a few weeks ago, i mentioned we would be spending the day at the beach with my him, a last hurrah before he left. the night before, i packed the car with evvvrything i could think of...playing cards, swim tubes and rafts, tricycles, scooters, books, toilet paper (beach bathrooms, you never know), sunscreen, hats, jogging stroller, sketchers shape-ups,
and my book, to name a few.
we got to ala moana beach by 8am, and the parking lot was already full...can you believe that?
anyways, it was a great day with tons of good eats. i took mini-he out on the board first thing in the morning, then we spent the remainder of the day riding that darn scooter.
i was able to get a walk in and managed to read a couple of pages in my book, though.

my sister and hubs flew my nephew up to oregon to get him settled this weekend. it must be nerve-wracking
when the little ones fly the coop, but i guess you can't
protect them forever.

(swimsuit, bcbg; mesh top, local store (similar); shorts, f21 (similar))
this was the most humongous marshmallow i have ever seen.
made for good s'mores, though!
can you guess which board is mine?

weekend in photos part one.

pushing a 50-pounder
in a jogging stroller
while pulling a dog
up a hill
wearing sketchers shape-ups
equals
kill. me. now.

i mentioned in friday's post that i wanted to exercise (like a maniac) and soak up the sun over the long weekend, and that's exactly what i did.
unfortunately, we hit my favorite (town) beach at high tide, so the already narrow sandy stretch was reduced to one-to-two feet at most. plus it was windy and the water was rough.
and, mini-he has this new fear thing about drowning...
so we went home, turned on the sprinkler, and munched on some watermelon.
foxy brown included.

lots of weekend pictures, so part 2 to follow.

how did you spend your weekend?

sunny with a chance of sweets.

want to say thanks!! to lifeanditsotherdrugs for nominating me for the Fashion Beauty Friend Friday Awards.
wow, so sweet!
you can check it out here.

it was a sunshiny sunday.
a dip in the pool followed by
nuggets and fries and mcflurries on the rooftop.
stopped at a local hotspot on the way home for shave ice.
this tiny place is run by two cute, old ladies. people line up from 10am - 5pm daily to get their fill of eccentric shave ice combinations.
i always get #7 which is shave ice, milk, mochi balls,
and two huge blocks of custard.
the other is a rainbow shave ice with mochi balls
and condensed cream.
you can even get shave ice with oatmeal or japanese azuki beans.
the picture was taken just before the rainbow one toppled over (while trying to get a close-up picture).
gawd...for the love of blog, i tell ya.
so i grabbed a few close-ups from yelp.com.
oh, and my mom made the most delicious chocolate mochi cake.
this week's forecast: no sweets
