pumpkin patch.

ahh, the obligatory trip to the pumpkin patch.
if you follow me on instagram, i already expressed my feelings about pumpkin patches in hawaii. i love the idea of them, but it's just too hot. still, i return every year in hopes that it'll be more enjoyable...less hot and sticky, less crowded, ha. in all seriousness, though, i enjoy the hay rides, i like feeding the farm animals, but really, i'm there for the food.

this year we visited waimanalo country farms, one of two farms that hosts a pumpkin festival. this one is small and simple with only one food booth serving up burgers and hot dogs, a low boil, lemonades, and their very own buttered corn on the cobb. nothing wrong with simple; everything was delish!

waited in line for 20 minutes to get this lemonade!

i wonder how much this guy would cost?!

the pumpkin patch left us in a festive mood...
stopped for a pumpkin cream cold brew.

weekend randoms.

just a few randoms on this wednesday...
had an awesome weekend of running, food, and friends.

after our usual saturday morning classes and errands, we grabbed some icees and headed to one of my favorite parks. i was a little bummed to see that the grass and hedges were so overgrown that it blocked some of the amazing views that this park has to offer...but it was still nice and we were able to shoot a few pics for this week's east vs west. the rest of the day was spent resting and hydrating.

sunday was race day (recap to follow), and while i normally rest and do absolutely nothing after my races, i ended up having a busy but equally relaxing day. i had lunch by the beach with a friend followed by a pumpkin carving/birthday party. it's always nice to catch up with friends over food and drinks.

pumpkins carved by the kids.
can you guess which one belonged to the mini-he?

hint: it's not orange.

sandwiched.

halloween.
car accident.
slammed from the back, pushed into the car in front.
stretcher. ambulance ride. er.
stiff neck. backache. nausea.
i'm ok. the aches get better everyday.
now i'm dealing with insurance claims and all that fun stuff.

and because of another major accident on the freeway that day, i didn't get home until 8:30 pm. poor mini-he missed out on trick-or-treating. luckily we had our halloween block party last weekend. at least he got to wear his costume once.

wearing the No nonsense leggings i talked about here.

this was the most uncomfortable contraption ever.
(leggings c/o No nonsense (buy); shoes, victoria's secret; f21 sweater (gift); necklace, INpink))

geek.

so i made it thru the weekend...
friday we went trunk or treating with friends and were last minute with our costumes. mini-she wanted to be a nerd, so in lieu of a white button down shirt with pocket we didn't have, she wore her white school uniform polo shirt with high-water jeans, nerd glasses, suspenders, and a make-shift pocket with pocket protector and pens. and, to make it easy, i multiplied by three and we went as a family of nerds.
i got the school treats made and the pumpkins carved, and all that's left to do is decorate the house when i get home.
hope everyone has a great evening...be safe!

what are your halloween plans?
hitting the town? dressing up? passing out candy?
tell me!

wearing mini-she's school uniform!
mini-he's school treats. check!
mini-he chose a bow tie instead of glasses.
carve pumpkins. check!
our family of nerds.
mini-he's request...a zombie (from plants vs. zombies) with one big eye and one small eye...and a tongue sticking out...
and peas shooting at it!
