on the fence.

i've never been one to schedule appointments at set intervals ahead of time. instead of getting that trim every six to eight weeks, i end up calling in desperation eight months later. especially with long hair, it's easy to throw it up in a bun everyday and not realize it's out of control.
this is where i'm at today.
i have a long overdue hair appointment on sunday, and i'm once again faced with the dilemma of what to do...go short or just get a trim. years ago, i worked at a salon and had many styles of bobs...blunt, asymmetrical, shaved up the back, graduated, with bangs, without bangs...and, i loved it. it was addicting. i kept wanting to go shorter. but, my hairstyle tends to influence the way i dress, and i feel there's a certain attitude and style that goes along with those styles. possibly a bit more...polished? i'm not sure i'm ready to give up the carefree boho vibe of my wide-leg flares and denim cut-offs just yet.

what do you think?
does your hairstyle affect your clothing choices?

I like the 4th possibility you've pictured. I'd never thought of it before, but i think I agree--short hair does call for a different kind of dressing.

Oh, and here's a link to what I know as "poke": http://www.motherearthnews.com/Organic-Gardening/1971-03-01/Poke-Sallet.aspx

First off that macadamia thing looks AMAZING!!! My stomach is growling and now it wants that and nothing else!
I do dress according to my hair. Ex: I have certain clothes that I wear only when my hair straight or then it's in a bun. I think it takes one little change to influence bigger things.

I really like the side swept bangs. Super sexy style.

And to answer your question - no I don't think my hair style changes my style.

I'm like you. I always postpone going to the hairdresser, and in the end I go, when I have to do my highlights again. Which can be from 6 months to 1 year. I really like your longer hair, but if you decide to cut them, an asymmetrical bob sounds interesting.
Love the outfit. by the way!

Your long hair does give off a very carefree vibe. That's one of the things I love about long hair! But I think you chose some great styles that would still allow you to have fun with your style and still go a little shorter. I'd love to see you with blunt bangs! That would be such a drastic change and I think it would look really great on you!

Hair styles definitely change one's look drastically, which means a subsequent fashion change as a ripple effect. Go with what feels comfortable and low maintenance, and definitely never decide on a new hairstyle while PMSing! :-)

Love this outfit and the mix of neutrals! I love the third photo for haircut inspiration. But I'll be honest, I'm in a hair rut at the moment and I'm guilty of the same thing you are. It's been months since my last haircut and it's a mess now, but I'm so uninspired as to the direction I want to go with it. Ugh.

Can't wait to see what you end up doing! I just had my hair down {at long last} today and basically did nothing except cut a couple of dry, dead inches off. So boring.

Love the romper. I'm in total. agreement. My hair definitely influences what I wear. When I have short hair, the spunky, sassy, tom-boyish side of my personality comes out more. Since I've grown it long, the romantic, feminine slightly more introverted side comes forth. It's in the in-between stages again and all I'm doing wearing buns. I'm ready to be done with it, but trying to stay committed to donating hair (and the length needs to be a min. of 10 inches when in a ponytail). Anyhow--love the first two cuts.

great neutral outfit! you always are so stylish and i love your accessories!

i used to always have edgy haircuts but since becoming a mom i just have it long and simple so i can wash and go. now for me if i want it different i just get a bang trim.

but i especially love that second haircut. it's fab. i do think hair does affect clothing choices. i feel like short hair always looks more chic but ends up being more work (though i'm sure guys would NOT agree and say that long hair always looks better)

You are so cute :) I recently went from waist-length hair to a pixie, and it TOTALLY effects the way I dress and do my makeup. It's a whole different ballgame.
Can't wait to see what you do with your hair! Thanks so much for your sweet comments on my blog. You are darling. :)

I am just like you! When I was about 17 my friend was training to be a hairdresser and I had EVERY single one of the haircuts you just described :)

Now my hair is quite long and really curly and tatty. I haven't had it cut for months. It looks drab. haha.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing your new do! You look so cool and army chic :)

I definitely agree that my hair affects what I want to wear! I bleach my hair so it would probably never grow to the length of yours as I'm always abusing it haha, but I'd love to be able to just throw it in a bun. It's frustrating having to style it every day! xx

Cute outfit! Love the hair cut/style ideas, I always pretend I'd cut my hair shorter but the reality is I'd never go shorter then collar bones! lol I'm a chicken!

I think with the shape of your face you will look good even with short or with long hair, it's up to you. I know that since my hair grows so slower I can't afford more than a trim lol plus my hair isn't totally straight and looks weird when I keep it short !

Great Pics!! Your face is beautiful, so I guess each of these haircuts will fit you. But I prefare LONG HAIR, at least now, as we are young... I do not like women after 40-50 with long hair... even if it is beautiful, I gues... it isn´t the age for that haircut! So I would tell you.. BETTER LONG! And about your question, My haircut doesn´t influence my style, but viceversa, My HAIR depends on what will i wear... :)

Kisses!!! Great pics!

Yeah, you pretty much described my exact hair routine, which is probably worse for me because my hair is so thin. If I don't get regular trims, I start looking shaggy in a hurry.

And that right there probably explains why my hair stylist always, always, always urged me to make my appointments in advance :)

Meri said...

I would say my hairstyle or length determines my earrings much more than my clothes, because when I have short hair I keep my earrings smaller!

I love this look! gorgeous boots! :) I would say that my hair does effect what I wear... I have had quite a few different hairstyles including bobs and even a pixie cut. With the shortest cut I always wore very feminine vintage dresses (mainly because I felt like I looked like a boy with my hair quite short) It's grown quite a bit now though, yay! :)

Thanks for your lovely comment on my blog - I've enjoyed reading yours too! My hair def. influences the way I dress - and my hair styles are as eclectic as my wardrobe, which makes sense. I think you could go shorter and still rock a boho, rocky vibe, it doesn't have to be perfect and polished at all. I think the examples above show that quite well! Loving your style! xx
