around town.

i always joke, saying that i was born in heels...i love wearing heels; i can jog, run, even sprint with heels (ok, maybe not
the last without risking a twisted ankle). but, with two active kids involved in lots of extracurricular activities, sometimes flats just make sense. so i'm always on the look out for oomph-worthy pairs to add to my shoedrobe. these animal print ones defnintely fit the bill. i look forward to wearing them with summer dresses and my new white denim.

treated the minis to acai bowls and pizza from jewel or juice after saturday's math class.

day to night.

if i know i'm going to be out all day, sometimes all i need is a pair of shoes to take an outfit from day casual to nighttime appropriate. and a jacket in case it gets chilly.

a few [oomph.] updates...
earlier this month, shareaholic partnered with rafflecopter to bring over 500 new bloggers and eight new categories to its channels. if you've never heard of shareaholic, it's a site that brings together content via blogs in topics from sports to food to technology to family to fashion. do check it out. you may even see some of your fellow bloggers there. you can find [oomph.] in the fashion and beauty channel.

actually bought these little mugs (filled with hot chocolate) for the minis for valentines...but it's perfect for a few sips of coffee in the morning before i run out of the house.

DoMy Jeans.

i think everyone would agree that shopping for the perfect pair of jeans is never an easy task. you either love the cut but not the color, or love the fit but not the length. as a petite
5'-2", i've always had to hem up my jeans because they were too long, and they never looked as good as the original.

enter DoMy Jeans, a website that allows you to customize
jeans to your liking.

women can create their perfect pair with the following options:
 - waistline (low, medium, high)
- cut (slim, boot, capri, straight)
- wash (4 types)
- belt loops (9 styles)
- front pockets (12 styles)
- back pockets (27 styles)
- fly (zip, button)
- buttons (14 types)
- distress (rips or no rips)
then enter your measurements for the perfect fit.

men can also customize jeans with similar options.

i have spent way too much money on way too many pairs of jeans over the years trying to get it right. custom made jeans just make sense! DoMy Jeans is offering the following promotions so that you can give their custom jeans a try!

$10 promotion valid until 3-30-13
code: dmjb8wjx
code: dmj2jdny

$20 promotion valid until 3-30-13

do you have unique measurements that make it difficult to find a pair that fits? are custom and tailor made jeans something you would be interested in?

white denim.

what i've been wearing lately?
white denim.

here's a few things i look for when choosing a pair:
- one that has some stretch to it
regular denim can be bulky
- choose a slim and straight-legged fit instead of a skinny fit
creating a straight line from hip to ankles will lengthen. think triangle vs. rectangle. skinny denim will show off your curves giving you a triangluar shape which is wide across the middle and skinny at the ankles. a slim pair that is fitted but not tight at the ankles gives a slimming, uniform width.
go for the rectangle.
- fitted but not skin tight
we all know white can widen, but don't over-compensate by going tighter. for obvious reasons, white shows everything...
don't add muffin top to that. loosen up a bit.
- choose the right length
whether you're looking for skinnys or long flared denim, avoid bunching at the bottom. you can cuff them to your ankles (like i did here) or make sure the flare is wide enough to fall over your shoes.

wearing white can be tricky, but as with anything else, it's all about finding the right proportions for your body. are you intimidated by wearing white? what do you look for when purchasing white bottoms?

mini-she's school play was this weekend.
they did such an amazing job!

haircut and dorks.

last weekend was mini-he's first flag football game. he's still pretty clueless about football, but he's having a good time. poor guys got rained on pretty bad this day...all of us did.

after the game, i rushed over to my hair appointment. decided to grow my hair out again, so i had her really thin out my ends to make this in-between stage more manageable.

after that, we hung out at my sister's house and acted like a bunch of dorks. give us a pair of nerd glasses, and these were bound to happen. i rarely post pics of the minis here, but these were just too funny.

mini-she is already taller than me by an inch or so. take away my heels and put them on her, and this is what you get...
my not-so-mini mini!

if i'm lounging at home with no concrete plans, you'll probably find me in jeans and a tee with my hair thrown up. i love the idea of a sophisticated bag that adds structure to my otherwise casual outfit. should i need to leave the house for a lunch or store run, i instantly feel pulled together with the right bag. added a vintage scarf for color.

if you follow me on instagram (@rockoomph), you'll know that i participated in our great aloha run, an 8.15 mile race traditionally held on president's day. i literally "decided" to do it a couple days before, no training whatsoever. man, am i feeling it today. and even though i wanted to sleep the rest of the day, i packed up dinner and took the kids to the beach. after all, it was their holiday, too.
