patterned clutch.

i was excited to hear that love & sunshine is coming out with a new fabric clutch. i'm already obsessed with my leopard pouch and i'm loving the fresh print on their new design. you can see a better picture of it here. keep your eye out on their instagram page for its availability.

wearing a white leather tee and jeans with a camel colored jacket...a neutral yet complementary backdrop for this pretty patterned clutch.

is it friday yet?

down with the duster.

it's starting to get chilly here, and i'm excited to wear my scarves and sweaters again. and while i'd also love to rock the classic trench or a fur coat (yeah right!), i'm keeping it on the lighter side with a cardigan duster. after all, mid-day is still around 80 degrees. this one from my friendship swap is the perfect fall color, too.

are you down with the duster?

mint seems to be taking over my closet, and i'm ok with that! it's the perfect color for spring and summer as it looks refreshing thrown over white denim or shorts. it's all about details, and i love the bow and semi-sheer back on this top from Patty's Closet.

the [updated] black blazer.

rediscovering my love of black as well as having an appreciation for simplicity, i've been updating my wardrobe with neutral pieces in varying textures. mornings run smoothly when i can confidently grab separates that i know will work together and look good together.

this textured blazer has a form-fitting shrunken fit, different from the oversized shapeless black blazers i've worn in the past. layered here over my favorite leather tank top, the textures give this otherwise simple black on black mix enough visual interest to get noticed.

i'm also rocking love & sunshine's newest design...
the crossbody bag.

how do you simplify getting dressed in the morning?

east vs west style. oversized knits.

this week's trend is definitely my favorite. i wear oversized sweaters year round, and i look forward to fall as an excuse to add a few new ones to the wardrobe. surprisingly, i've never owned a plain black sweater, so this one made sense. i'll definitely get a lot of wear out of this versatile sweater.

hope you've been enjoying the series so far. what's been your favorite week?

what do you wear with a simple black sweater? fun two-tone denim, cute quilted heels, a bucket bag for a boho vibe, and a fall hat to top it all off.

the cowl neck sweater.

turtleneck sweaters are perfect for fall's chilly weather. i love the look of them and found this sleeveless sweater to be a great alternative for our warmer weather. unfortunately, turtlenecks can be overwhelming on petite frames and can actually make us look shorter, so here are a few easy ways to make it work:

1. instead of a true turtleneck, opt for a cowl neck. it drapes at the chest and lengthens the body.
2. pair it with fitted pants that are slightly wider at the bottom to balance the fullness at the neck.
3. or, pair the oversized sweater with shorts (if you're covered up on top, it's ok to show some skin on the bottom,
and vice versa).
4. keep the look simple and unfussy.
skip the statement jewelry and let the neckline be the focus.

are you a fan of turtlenecks?
how do you make it work for you?

white tee + flared jeans.

easy like sunday morning...
and these were taken on sunday morning. this precise ensemble is my absolute favorite go-to outfit. here in hawaii, i can always count on a cute tee + flared jeans + fun accessories to keep me presentable but not overdone. i'm wearing a fabulous tee and necklace from my friends over at sisters marie with an oldie-but-goodie pair of jeans. and i had to throw in some leopard with this cute clutch from love & sunshine.

this long weekend was filled with just about everything...running, hiking, cleaning, eating. a few pics from yesterday's hike below.

what outfit do you feel most confident in?
anything exciting happen this weekend?

lush sunlit greens.
bamboo.
manoa falls hike. it's uphill most of the way, but overall an easy and kid-friendly hike that's a little under 2 miles. go early or else you won't have a chance to take selfies photograph the falls without people in the background.
post-hike grinds from liliha bakery. known for their fluorescent red jelly...who knows what it is, but it's yummy on their toasted butter rolls.
