cowl neck dress.

since it's summer year round in hawaii, we miss out on seasonal things, like fall fashion. when the weather cools, we jump at the occasion to layer up and break out the boots and jackets. i'm still waiting for the day i can wear a leopard fur coat...but until then, it's all about compromise. this LBD from patty's closet is a perfect example. its slightly higher cowl neck and thicker material are bearable because it's sleeveless. and since it's textured, it really doesn't need much...simple heels, a statement necklace, and a red lip. that is all.

do you experience the seasons where you live?

these clay cafes are making a comeback here. if you follow me on snapchat (@ rockoomph), you know what i made. can't wait to see the final product!

asymmetry.

another great basic with oomph-worthy details...loving the asymmetrical hem on this green top from patty's closet. this fall is all about earthy, muted colors. while i usually love bold rich jewel tones for fall, these toned down colors make just as much of an impact with their soft and romantic vibe.

a few pictures below from our adventures around the east side a couple weeks ago. it's currently pouring with flash flood warnings, and it's supposed to get worse throughout the day. tgif.

what color will you be rocking this fall?

happiness [boutique] is.

...a great statement necklace.
every outfit deserves oomph-worthy accessories, delicate or bold. i'm loving this jasmine blossom necklace from Happiness Boutique which falls in between making it wearable even with a t-shirt and jeans. Happiness Boutique has cute clothing and accessories and an excellent selection of jewelry. i'm wearing the necklace with another great piece from a swap with my friend.

we have two storms headed our way which will probably bring more rain this weekend. please pray for those in florida and have a safe and dry weekend.

how do you wear your statement necklaces?
how's the weather in your neck of the woods?

whites + brights.

happy prime day!
if you haven't heard, amazon prime members get exclusive access to deals today. i heard the deals are even better than black friday's deals. to sweeten the day, walmart is jumping on this opportunity to snag some customers by hosting their own rollback deals. it's a battle of sales that's definitely worth checking out.

i found this top in my recent friendship swap bag and automatically thought of pairing it with white to freshen up the colors. it's been extremely humid here, so shorts have been the only option lately.

how's your summer weather?

last weekend we hit up Kit n Kitchen, a restaurant that specializes in spaghetti. i came here years ago when they first opened and haven't been back until now. i enjoyed the food then, and it was pretty good this time again.
chicken and mushrooms in a mixed cream sauce.
this is their signature pillow toast swerved with sweet cream and maple syrup + a scoop of ice cream, which we had for dessert. we also had their garlic pillow toast with our dinner.

the little black sweatshirt.

when i saw this sweatshirt (thanks rowena!), i knew it would make a fun addition to my growing sweatshirt collection. paired with [pencil] skirts or pants, i love how sweatshirts can dress down your look, or how you can dress them up with a statement necklace depending how you look at it. either way, it makes the perfect juxtaposition for our casual lifestyle.

starting to feel the pressure with only three days until christmas. i still have a few names to check off my list. even though i start early, i always end up at the malls the week before christmas.

christmas shopping done?

mondays come too soon, don't you agree? at least it's a short week! by the way, who plans on braving the black friday crowds?

buffalo plaid.

one of my must-haves for fall is a great flannel...and what better than one in classic red. it's great for chilly fall mornings and nights, perfect for the pumpkin patch, and festive come christmas.

while i love all patterns from gingham to checks and tartans, i've been wanting to add a buffalo plaid to my collection. like everything else, though, the perfect one is hard to find.

i came close with this one last year but hope to score 'the one' this year.

what's one thing you hope to pick up this fall?

white tee + flared jeans.

easy like sunday morning...
and these were taken on sunday morning. this precise ensemble is my absolute favorite go-to outfit. here in hawaii, i can always count on a cute tee + flared jeans + fun accessories to keep me presentable but not overdone. i'm wearing a fabulous tee and necklace from my friends over at sisters marie with an oldie-but-goodie pair of jeans. and i had to throw in some leopard with this cute clutch from love & sunshine.

this long weekend was filled with just about everything...running, hiking, cleaning, eating. a few pics from yesterday's hike below.

what outfit do you feel most confident in?
anything exciting happen this weekend?

lush sunlit greens.
bamboo.
manoa falls hike. it's uphill most of the way, but overall an easy and kid-friendly hike that's a little under 2 miles. go early or else you won't have a chance to take selfies photograph the falls without people in the background.
post-hike grinds from liliha bakery. known for their fluorescent red jelly...who knows what it is, but it's yummy on their toasted butter rolls.
