weekend in photos.

this skirt was hidden in its protective plastic that i almost forgot about it. such a great skirt, though, with its curved up sides and leather piping. worn casual here with a tee + black sneaks [i was too lazy to move my camera back for a full length, haha], but you can see it dressed up here.

this weekend was jammed packed with stuff to do (and lots to drink)...some of which was planned, some wasn't. but i love when weekends just happen. don't you? weekend randoms below.

wine night.
got spiced up for the pacquiao/mayweather fight.
beer + bingo fundraiser plus a trip on the party bus.
i said on instagram that what happens inside the bus, stays in the bus...but this photo isn't too incriminating. and it's blurriness shows just how much fun we were having.
beach house shenanigans...water balloon fights for the littles, margaritas for the bigs.
plus, lots of good food...these were called juicy lucy burgers made with a layer of cheese in between two pattys. have you heard of such a thing? it was good, tho!

the little black sweatshirt.

when i saw this sweatshirt (thanks rowena!), i knew it would make a fun addition to my growing sweatshirt collection. paired with [pencil] skirts or pants, i love how sweatshirts can dress down your look, or how you can dress them up with a statement necklace depending how you look at it. either way, it makes the perfect juxtaposition for our casual lifestyle.

starting to feel the pressure with only three days until christmas. i still have a few names to check off my list. even though i start early, i always end up at the malls the week before christmas.

christmas shopping done?

sheer + studded.

getting out the door in the mornings has become quite the chore because of two things. juice and water. a few months ago, i caved and bought a TIGER stainless steel [water] bottle. depending on the style and size, these bottles can cost up to $60...but they are the bomb! it keeps my water cold all day. and, if i didn't eat them all, i'd still have tons of ice at the end of the day. it went on sale for $29 at my local drugstore, so i grabbed a couple. on a rare occasion, it goes on sale for $19, but you better be first in line when they open if you want one; they go fast. i figured i could take them on my hikes, but i now bring it to work everyday. the water just tastes good coming out of the bottle (maybe psychological!), and i can easily drink the liter throughout the day (whereas before i didn't drink any water while at work)

i also started juicing in the morning. i try to drink it at home, but i usually don't have time to finish it all.

so...in addition to my coffee, i'm now carrying a
water bottle and a cup of juice.

and...that's in addition to my bag, my makeup bag,
and my lunch bag.

and...on occasion, i'll have my camera bag.

anyone else have this problem?

water, juice, and coffee...every morning.
yes, the paint is coming off my coffee cup, but i haven't found any other that is as spill-proof as this one. i've even dropped it, full of coffee, and the lid stayed on!
dried coconut chunks & strawberries from chinatown...

experimenting with extremes. blues.

i recently had my first jello shot. i mean, how could i resist when my neighbor served them like cute lemon wedges. after we devoured them, she proceeded to make beverages with the fruit she scooped out by throwing them into vodka + lemonade.
talk about not letting anything go to waste.

i wanted to see how many blue things i could throw into
this outfit. pretty much everything except the shoes. wait...darn...come to think of it, i do have
a pair of blue heels...haha.

looking forward to hanging out at my
friend's beach house this weekend.
what are you guys up to?

vodka-infused gummy bears and jello wedges.

here's a recipe i want to try:
pink lemonade jello shots

12 lemons
1 cup pink lemonade
2 packages plain gelatin
1 cup vodka
cupcake pan
- cut lemons in half, scoop out insides
- add lemonade to saucepan, sprinkle gelatin over juice,
let sit for 2 minutes
- heat lemonade over low heat, stir until gelatin dissolves, about 5 minutes
- stir in vodka, pour into lemons
- refrigerate, about 4 hours
- slice and enjoy

wicked.

last night i went to see wicked, and it was so good! the best part was the "popular" scene/song. (kim - now i understand the "toss-toss"!) galinda was so funny and every detail of her role was choreographed perfectly...definitely my favorite character. it would have been nice to be able to see their facial expressions, but i'm just happy that i was able to catch the show before the tour ends on saturday.

i bought this jacket in l.a. years ago...wish it were longer because it would be a great medium-weight coat for this weather. last year i dabbled in many of the colorful trends like neon and color blocking. and while i still love color, i'm most comfortable in neutrals. this year i hope to simplify my wardrobe by going back to things i feel good in. here it's all black, but added texture for some oomph.

resurfaced.

an old skirt that i wore to a christmas party years ago resurfaced. this time with just a simple black bodysuit
and heels.

i'm going to see the broadway hit, wicked, tonight. i have no idea what it's about, but i hear it's a great show.

have you seen wicked or any other broadway show?

wine + cheese + good company always make for a great night.

print mixin.

sometimes something happens that just puts you in a mood for the rest of the day. it wasn't anything bad, and it wasn't anyone's fault, but it just lingered in my head for most of the day. enough that i didn't really get anything done. i did have a grilled cheese sandwich with fries and a no-foam soy latte which were both really yummy, so that was good.

here's to getting over this hump day.

foxy brown wouldn't leave me alone...she kept nudging me!
