weekend in photos.

this skirt was hidden in its protective plastic that i almost forgot about it. such a great skirt, though, with its curved up sides and leather piping. worn casual here with a tee + black sneaks [i was too lazy to move my camera back for a full length, haha], but you can see it dressed up here.

this weekend was jammed packed with stuff to do (and lots to drink)...some of which was planned, some wasn't. but i love when weekends just happen. don't you? weekend randoms below.

wine night.
got spiced up for the pacquiao/mayweather fight.
beer + bingo fundraiser plus a trip on the party bus.
i said on instagram that what happens inside the bus, stays in the bus...but this photo isn't too incriminating. and it's blurriness shows just how much fun we were having.
beach house shenanigans...water balloon fights for the littles, margaritas for the bigs.
plus, lots of good food...these were called juicy lucy burgers made with a layer of cheese in between two pattys. have you heard of such a thing? it was good, tho!

weekend randoms.

just a few randoms on this wednesday...
had an awesome weekend of running, food, and friends.

after our usual saturday morning classes and errands, we grabbed some icees and headed to one of my favorite parks. i was a little bummed to see that the grass and hedges were so overgrown that it blocked some of the amazing views that this park has to offer...but it was still nice and we were able to shoot a few pics for this week's east vs west. the rest of the day was spent resting and hydrating.

sunday was race day (recap to follow), and while i normally rest and do absolutely nothing after my races, i ended up having a busy but equally relaxing day. i had lunch by the beach with a friend followed by a pumpkin carving/birthday party. it's always nice to catch up with friends over food and drinks.

pumpkins carved by the kids.
can you guess which one belonged to the mini-he?

hint: it's not orange.

funny story.

yesterday i went to Kona for work. i was wearing my new favorite earrings - the pearl 360 studs from BaubleBar.

after i got off the plane, i went to the bathroom, and as i was walking out, a guy grabbed me and said, "miss, are you wearing pearl earrings?"

i wasn't sure where he was going with this question, whether he was inquiring about them or what, but i instinctively reached up to feel my earrings and said, "yes, i am."

he went on to explain that he had found an earring on the plane ramp and left it with the agent at the gate. i realized that my left earring was indeed missing, so i thanked him and headed back to the gate.

when i got to the gate, they presented me with the (smaller pearl) earring only, and i thought (but actually said out loud), "awww, only one?" i tried to explain to the guy that the backing (the bigger pearl) was missing and asked if he could take a look around since i couldn't go back on the tarmac.

mind you, there were tons of onlookers waiting for the next flight, and i had two agents looking for my earring! but it wasn't just any backing; it was the big pearl! i could hear the two agents saying how it could have fallen off anywhere, that they'd never find it.

so i thanked them and left, pouting inside...bummed about my short-lived earrings.

i went on with my day, finished work, grabbed lunch...

yummy oriental chicken salad from Buns in the Sun.

...went to the bathroom to wash up before heading back to the airport.

i noticed in the mirror that my shirt button came undone. i looked down to button it, and what did i see nestled in my cleavage??? the big pearl backing!

those agents were certainly right...
they were never going to find that backing!

moral of the story:
missing something? check the cleavage.

weekend in photos.

helloooo, monday.
i had a productive weekend full of firsts. and while i'm usually dreading mondays, i can't wait to get back on the treadmill. what?? i mean, just look at the first picture.

invited by a friend, mini-she and i went to our first women's conference on friday night. over 800+ women in an energetic atmosphere, singing songs of praise, inviting jesus into their hearts. for any newbie, it's overwhelming...even a bit uncomfortable. but i did enjoy the speaker and her message about change. after the conference, i had some one-on-one time with mini-she as we chatted over good eats.

mini burgers, southwest spring rolls,
and artichoke dip and chips.
on saturday, i met my friend (and marathon training partner) for our first run together in 2014. we have been keeping each other in the loop about our weekly workouts and treadmill runs, but it was nice to actually hit the pavement. following our 5-mile run (woot!), her husband juiced for us. i had my first ever green juice. greens & kale, green apples, lemons. it did have a strong "green" smell, but it was totally drinkable. i am definitely team green. how about you?
and on sunday, mini-she had a church outing to a local trampoline place. since i had to pick her up, i decided to check it out with mini-he. it was our first time there, and it was super fun. i'd only seen YouTube videos of similar places, so i was confused when the guy said 'only one person per trampoline'. makes sense, but there were tons of people there; how many trampolines could this place possibly have, i wondered?! but i understood once i saw it...one person per square.
you have to wear non-slip socks, which you can purchase there for $3. mini-he had such a great time and kept thanking me for bringing him to get some exercise. he did complain about being a little sore today, but so was i. i actually considered purchasing 90 minutes of jump time, but one-hour is plenty!

tell me about your weekend.

quack quack.

our long memorial day weekend began with mini-he's school graduation. he still has one more year of preschool, but we were there to congratulate his classmates who were moving on to kindergarten. i'm still very proud of the progress he made this year...as one who had a difficult time transitioning to preschool, he's come a long way.

on saturday, we visited ho'omaluhia botanical garden for the first time. it's a huge park tucked up against the mountains on the windward side of oahu. i love coming to this side of the island because it is so lush and green. there's a lake full of fish and ducks to feed, small hiking trails, picnic tables, and lots of lawn space so you never feel crowded. on weekends, you are even allowed to fish (catch and release). the area in my photos is just one part of the garden. according to the map, there are several more areas like it if you keep driving back. with a permit, you can even camp there. on this day, i met up with a friend and his kids, but i brought my parents back a couple days later. more photos from the rest of the weekend
to follow.

mini-he said, "mom, i'm not a graduate. i'm an undergraduate."
don't forget your bread for the ducks and fish!
every tree/plant is labeled.

thunderstorms and floods...oh, and hail?
yes, it hailed on this sunshiny state...tiny, pea-sized hail.

the boss (aka sister) took everyone in the office to lunch today...except me. and bear. does being family automatically mean i'm the one that has to stay back and hold down the fort? eh, whatevs...i'm leaving early...taking my lunch raincheck.

instead, i heated up my home lunch and took a few photos
via my blackberry. welcome to my instagram.
