minion noir.

bello!
when i saw these sunglasses at Patty's Closet, i instantly thought...minions! they are big and over-the-top, but super fun. it's the perfect statement accessory for this simple black romper, also from Patty's Closet.

summer is coming to an end for us as the minis are headed back to school this week. i hate for it to end, but i'm satisfied with how we spent our time. scenes from the weekend below.

how was your weekend?

me want banana!
pali lookout.
just a little windy.
geez...how many times have i eaten mexican this summer?
paddle boarding followed by this pretty sunset in haleiwa (you can still catch it on periscope @oomph). it got even better...as we were driving home, cars were pulling over on the side of the road. we looked back to see that the sunset had turned the sky a vibrant red-orange. you can see how it change from the above as well as see all the cars pulling over to get a shot of it on snapchat (@rockoomph).

happy national drink wine day.

for all you wine lovahs, today is national drink wine day. for those who didn't know (it's ok, i didn't know either...shame on me!), it is always celebrated on February 18th. i couldn't find any true historical meaning behind this day other than to simply rejoice and enjoy your favorite wines. so...go ahead, grab your glass. [virtual] cheers!

in spirit of the day, scroll down for some wine facts, fun gadgets, favorite sayings, and must-haves.

what is your favorite wine?
do you like red or white?

8 health benefits of drinking wine:

1) promotes longevity. 34% lower mortality rate
2) reduces heart-attack risk

4) reduces risk of type 2 diabetes
5) lowers risk of stroke
6) cuts risk of cataracts
7) cuts risk of colon cancer
8) slows brain decline

i drink red wine, mostly.
while i prefer a good cabernet, i do not discriminate.
i'll try anything once, but here's what i usually find myself reaching for time and time again:

jordan cabernet, $50
ghost pines cabernet, $20
P|K|N|T. cabernet, pinot noir, merlot, $10

must-haves:
aerator for when you don't have time to let wine breathe.
a great bottle opener - rabbit is by far the easiest.
stemless wine glasses = less accidents.
a wine refrigerator.

neutral prints.

this chilly weather is making me lazy. all i want to do is cozy up in a warm blanket [with a good book and a cup of tea], which is probably why i've been living in oversized sweaters and sweatshirts. it's the next best thing to a warm blanket when you have to leave the house. but i figured getting dressed on this monday morning was a good way to start the week.

throwing prints and textures into the mix here while keeping to a neutral palette. similar shades of brown keep the leopard and herringbone harmonious while the white denim freshens up the look.

do you like dressing up when temps drop?

leopard tights + boots.

i'm late to the party.
we're already eight days into 2015 and i haven't quite figured out what my goal for the year is. last year's was simple. the marathon. this year, i want a similar goal that i can focus on entirely. sure, i have other things i want to do, too, like read more, get organized, and try new things, but i haven't pinpointed that main goal...yet. have you?

what do you want to accomplish this year?

hello again.

just dropping in for a quick hello. i didn't intend to take a whole week off from the blog, but it was nice to slow down and enjoy the holidays. i had a nice christmas spending time with family and friends and look forward to ringing in the new year. there are a lot of changes at work and at home, and i'm a little anxious to see how everything plays out.

this cowl neck sweater from Oasis has been my absolute favorite sweater as of late. it's so soft and comfortable and just warm enough for the chilly weather we've been having. and you can't see it well here, but this long sparklepop necklace from my POPSUGAR Must Have december box layers perfectly over the neckline.

what was the best gift you received this year?

if you still need inspiration for your holiday party outfits, check out the latest holiday edition of east vs west style.

east vs west style. holiday party.

now that thanksgiving has passed, it's starting to feel like christmas. driving around the neighborhood this weekend, the night air was crisp and cool, and many of the houses were starting to put up their christmas lights and decorations. and you know what that means...holiday parties!

the ladies and i are back with a holiday edition of east vs west style, and we're kicking it off with what to wear to your holiday parties. black doesn't have to be boring. play around with layers, textures, and prints to create a look that will stand out in the crowd.

Tiffany / Tiffany Style / Georgia
Tracy / TheRightShoes / New York

west
Ashley / Pursuit of Shoes / California
Danielle / Envision Pretty / California
Becks / oomph. / Hawaii

figuring out what to wear to a holiday party can be stressful. you're already worried about your grab bag gift, your dish or wine selection, and you might be on a budget with all the christmas gifts you have yet to buy. your work wardrobe can provide a great base for an outfit.

for me, it's this leopard print pencil skirt and tank top that i always wear to the office topped off with this beautiful faux leather drape cardigan from Karen Kane. it's slightly textured and has a pretty sheen to it that makes it feel festive. i'm also loving the ruched sleeves that show off your jewelry [and flash tats] without having to roll up your sleeves.

when the holidays are over, this cardigan will fit right into my work wardrobe...and that's what i call a great investment.

wild thing.

...you make my heart sing.

my niece is obsessed with milk teas from this place, Taste Tea. it's all the rage and is jam packed with kids all the time. they have so many variations and flavors now, that it's hard to choose. i got a yogurt lemonade milk tea that was good for the first few sips. my suggestion? stick to the basics - original milk tea, or strawberry milk tea. my niece got a milk tea with a scoop of ice cream.
