a soft spring palette.

soft grays, muted pinks, and rose gold [shoes] just seem right for warm spring days. it truly feels like a hump day...need to find energy to get through this day and finish off the week. i have a fun weekend ahead which will include a little bit of exercise, getting wet, a lot of eating, and tasting some new drinks. tell you all about it soon!

by the way, anyone on snapchat? i literally just signed up yesterday to see what it's all about and hopefully get it all figured out before the weekend. leave me your username so i can find ya - i'm rockoomph.

a week of yellow. chartreuse.

a week of yellow continues with chartreuse...a color that falls between yellow and green. its shades range from dull to shockingly bright which gives you many options depending on your comfort level with color. some people with fair skin feel like they can't wear yellow because it washes them out. chartreuse is a great alternative; because of its green tinge, it provides more contrast from the skin.

do you like brights? have you worn chartreuse?

bittersweet arrival of UO.

the first and only times i set foot in urban outfitters was about seven years ago when i was on vacay in california. we probably went to three different stores, and i was in heaven each time. the stores were filled to the brim with all kinds of goodness; i was literally that kid in a candy store. i wanted everything.

its arrival here was bittersweet since they are in waikiki. as with other stores that came to waikiki (h&m, forever 21), the likelihood of me going down there just to shop is slim to none. but last week, i attended a class held at a hotel in waikiki, so i made sure to check out our very first urban outfitters.

do you like urban outfitters?
is there a store near you?

i was a little bummed about the clothes - nothing exciting, a lot of the same thing spread out around the store. i was also super bummed about their home section (or lack of, i should say). that was one of the areas i loved when i visited in california.

but i loved their beauty and make up section which was fully stocked with anastasia of beverly hills products, among other cool brands. sephora has limited products, but UO had most of her line. they also had tony moly products which i've only seen online before.

thumbs up for their swimsuit selection, bags, and shoes. lots of cute styles.

overall, i like the store. everyone was friendly and helpful. hopefully there will be a new crop of clothes the next time i'm in the area.

cargos + patches.

tgif! it's super bowl weekend, and it's a big deal at our house. i really only look forward to the half time show and commercials, and usually cheer for the underdogs just to make things interesting around here! mini-he and i will decorate the house with team logos and paraphernalia, my dad usually has a pool going on, and there'll be ribs and cold beers on the menu.
good times.

do you watch the super bowl?

i'm late to the party.
we're already eight days into 2015 and i haven't quite figured out what my goal for the year is. last year's was simple. the marathon. this year, i want a similar goal that i can focus on entirely. sure, i have other things i want to do, too, like read more, get organized, and try new things, but i haven't pinpointed that main goal...yet. have you?

what do you want to accomplish this year?

hello again.

just dropping in for a quick hello. i didn't intend to take a whole week off from the blog, but it was nice to slow down and enjoy the holidays. i had a nice christmas spending time with family and friends and look forward to ringing in the new year. there are a lot of changes at work and at home, and i'm a little anxious to see how everything plays out.

this cowl neck sweater from Oasis has been my absolute favorite sweater as of late. it's so soft and comfortable and just warm enough for the chilly weather we've been having. and you can't see it well here, but this long sparklepop necklace from my POPSUGAR Must Have december box layers perfectly over the neckline.

what was the best gift you received this year?

an [oomph.] review. hanes hosiery tights.

[i received these tights for the sole purpose of this review;
all opinions are 100% mine.]

fall is a great season for experimenting with layers and textures, especially when trying to extend the life of our summer wardrobes. an easy and affordable way to add a layer of warmth is with stockings and tights. there are so many patterns to choose from making this a fun way to show off your personality. a few years back, i was obsessed with polka dots and leopard prints!

this time, i swapped out my usual black tights for these Hanes matte opaque tights in green to add some fun fall color to my black outfit. i added a third color (camel) for dimension and a print (leopard) to break up the solid colors.

have you tried Hanes hosiery?
how do you express yourself with tights?

my thoughts on these matte opaque control top tights:

- they are durable and do not snag easily.
- they have a nice comfortable stretch.
(although control top will be snug)
- no sliding down throughout the day.
- nice vibrant color.
- affordable.

the cowl neck sweater.

turtleneck sweaters are perfect for fall's chilly weather. i love the look of them and found this sleeveless sweater to be a great alternative for our warmer weather. unfortunately, turtlenecks can be overwhelming on petite frames and can actually make us look shorter, so here are a few easy ways to make it work:

1. instead of a true turtleneck, opt for a cowl neck. it drapes at the chest and lengthens the body.
2. pair it with fitted pants that are slightly wider at the bottom to balance the fullness at the neck.
3. or, pair the oversized sweater with shorts (if you're covered up on top, it's ok to show some skin on the bottom,
and vice versa).
4. keep the look simple and unfussy.
skip the statement jewelry and let the neckline be the focus.

are you a fan of turtlenecks?
how do you make it work for you?
