monogram clutch GIVEAWAY.

let's kick off july with a giveaway!
i've teamed up with 9th & Elm to give one reader a cute monogram clutch. this burlap clutch is available in four different trim colors and two different monogram styles to choose from. it also comes with a shoulder and wrist strap. since the natural material is on the casual side, i opted for black trim and letters to dress it up a bit...but throw on a bright pink or blue trim and you have yourself a fun summer bag. scroll down to enter.

do you like monogrammed items?
do you own anything with your monogram on it?

cargos + patches.

tgif! it's super bowl weekend, and it's a big deal at our house. i really only look forward to the half time show and commercials, and usually cheer for the underdogs just to make things interesting around here! mini-he and i will decorate the house with team logos and paraphernalia, my dad usually has a pool going on, and there'll be ribs and cold beers on the menu.
good times.

do you watch the super bowl?

scarf set GIVEAWAY.

this weekend, we weathered a storm that resulted in hurricane-like damage. strong winds uprooted and knocked down trees, big and small, all over the island. the news even reported a few damaged houses.

the sun eventually came out, but there's still a chill in the air. i've been keeping toasty warm with these gloves, headband, and scarf from 9th & Elm...while keeping my hands permanently wrapped around a hot cuppa joe.

9th & Elm is graciously giving one lucky reader all three of these amazingly soft pieces. scroll down to enter.

i love the button details on the infinity scarf and gloves.

what does the fox say.

keeping this a semi-wordless wednesday...

mini-he used to get a kick out of this song. so i got this shirt with him in mind thinking that he'd get a kick out of it, too. he did. only, he asked if there was a shirt for him. oops.

happy hump day.

- with neon
- with sequins
- with more gray
and with statement heels + a colorful necklace like below.

triangle.

this tiny triangle necklace is the latest addition to my collection of dainty pieces. i introduced it to my monogram necklace, and they have been best friends ever since. these little minis are perfect for filling the void around your neck. they still make a statement, just a subtle one.

do you prefer dainty necklaces or bigger statement pieces?
or both?

just another black dress.

finding the perfect basics, like a simple black maxi dress, can be an expensive task. you might purchase several wrongs before you find that almost perfect one. i would consider this the perfect black maxi dress except that it's two sizes too big. i have the straps tied up in knots, but i'll eventually sew them properly. until them, here's to another almost perfect black dress.

happy father's day to all the dads out there. and if you ladies want a simple side dish to add to your father's day meal, scroll down for a recipe.

what's something you buy repeatedly until you get it right?

roasted squash
- butternut squash, 1" cubes, 2-3 cups (find it at costco)
- minced garlic
-salt & pepper
- olive oil, 2-3 tbsp
- onion

toss squash/onion with oil and garlic, salt & pepper to taste, bake on cookie sheet at 350° for 25-30 mins.

the leopard robe.

with mini-he in the house my sleepwear became much more conservative. i mean, mama can't be strutting around in her intimates anymore! but every once in a while, you need to slip into something lacey. something feminine. something that makes you feel like a woman (vs mom). something...sexy.

my personal favorites were satin chemises. i loved the feel of the cool satin against my skin. while those are still a bit risque for mini-he's eyes, this robe from i love Sexy was a nice compromise. and you know i had to get something with leopard.

if you're shy about purchasing intimates, shopping online is a great way to fulfill those needs from the privacy of your own home. no one watching to see what you take in the dressing room. no one judging you and thinking, ooh, girl's gonna get some tonight! or, oh...she's that kinda girl! haha. i kid, i kid.

but seriously, check out i love Sexy for everything from intimates to pajamas to hosiery to costumes and clubwear. and tell me in the comments, what's your sexy style? do you rock intimates, flannel pjs, or an oversized tee?

sailor shorts.

traffic killed our workout...
so we had mexican and margaritas instead. we had every intention of hiking but encountered some serious traffic. after being on the road for two hours and taking every back road possible, it was lunch time and we couldn't deny our growling tummies. of course, we felt guilty stuffed after that, so we walked it off with some window shopping in haleiwa. pictures of the weekend below, including the most interesting ice cream [flavor] i've ever had.

do you enjoy playing tourist in your home town?
what's the most interesting ice cream flavor you've tried?

playing tourist in beach town: sipping on peach maggies, the cutest summery shorts, and yummy homemade ice cream from Scoop of Paradise in 'creamy rose'...which actually tasted like the smell of roses.
watches that are literally on hawaiian time (old watches filled with beachscapes of sand, sea glass, and shells), mexican food, and ended the weekend with pedis + wine.
