down with the duster.

it's starting to get chilly here, and i'm excited to wear my scarves and sweaters again. and while i'd also love to rock the classic trench or a fur coat (yeah right!), i'm keeping it on the lighter side with a cardigan duster. after all, mid-day is still around 80 degrees. this one from my friendship swap is the perfect fall color, too.

are you down with the duster?

denim grunge.

oh, monday. we meet again so soon?
the weekend was jam-packed with activities...mini-she's school fun fair followed by her freshman all-nighter, then a birthday party at a trampoline place for mini-he's friend. the latter part of the weekend was spent literally "hanging" out at the beach house (see picture below), eating, and having rubik's cube races. i talked about the cube before when i was teaching mini-she and my nephew. now, the cube has hit my niece's school, so she's learning how to do it. poor thing was learning on a tiny key-chain sized cube; i ended up buying a bunch of cubes so we could all have our own.

how did you spend your weekend?

apparently this is called a brazilian hammock. i thought it was the funniest thing because it looks like a cocoon. definitely not what i envisioned for relaxing at the beach house, but my mom didn't know when she bought it. we joked about hanging four of these across the balcony for the kids to take their naps in!
rubik's cube racing marathon...
can you guess who's the fastest??

leopard shorts.

ending the week with a casual outfit. these animal printed shorts, while not the best quality, serve its purpose as being cute and comfortable. i'm wearing it here with a sweater that i've been wearing constantly. it was a lukewarm black friday purchase that i got just because it was 50% off. besides, i had been wanting a basic black sweater. turns out, it's navy. those darn gilly hicks / abercrombie / hollister stores are so dark, you can't see what you're buying. anyways, i still love the sweater and will probably grab a couple more because they are the perfect loose fit and are comfortably warm.

in my efforts to get mini-he more active and prepared for real hikes, i took him on this fairly easy trail up to the lighthouse. my niece came with us. i posted pictures of the makapu'u lighthouse trail before, but i never tire of seeing the big blue.

what are your plans for the weekend?

the bomber jacket.

the bomber is back. in satin.
and right now, Patty's Closet has them in lots of cute prints (all under $30!). they are lightweight making them perfect for layering over my tees.

i feel like the past two weeks have been non-stop. i'm finally working on my home office (aka corner of one room). i've been putting it off for so long but finally made the first purchase, my white shag rug. i'm going for a clean and simple all white look...you can check out my home office board on pinterest to see my vision. next up is my desk, and i can't decide between the clear acrylic console i've been wanting for ages, or a white desk. thoughts?

and sunday is our neighborhood halloween block party. i don't have a costume yet, but i can always pull out my wig collection.

are you dressing up for halloween?
if so, tell me about your costume.

p is for pink.

accident update.
turns out the guy who hit me didn't have insurance, didn't have a driver's license, and gave a bogus phone number.
total. buzzkill.
adjuster came to look at the car, and it's looking like a total loss...meaning the cost to repair the car (which is estimated at over $10,000) is more than the car is worth. now i'm forced to buy a car that i really can't afford right now.
double. buzzkill.

i love these boyfriend shorts. they are so comfortable;
i want to get them in every color.
oh, wait...i can't...gotta buy a car instead.

the best halloween treat in the bunch...

neon stripes.

last week i posted beckstagram, which was my own take on instagram...as a blackberry user. funny enough, as i was reading blogs this weekend, i came across a post in which the words 'blackberry' and 'my own instagram' caught my eye. weird, i thought, that someone else was making their own instagram, too. come to find out, there is a blackberry app, molome, which is blackberry's version of the iphone app, instagram.
the reviews aren't great, but it looks promising.
have any of you tried molome?

don't get your panties in a bunch.

these striped tees have been getting a lot of wear, but they are usually layered under a sweater or blazer. my striped tee before these had 3/4 length sleeves that would bunch up right at my elbows...so i grabbed this black and white one at a local store for $8 and the brown one from express on black friday. now my sleeves can see the light of day.

i really hate when i order salads at restaurants and they are drenched with too much dressing. i really wanted to enjoy my salad today, but i didn't pack enough dressing.
hard to enjoy either way.
how about you...would you prefer too much dressing
or not enough dressing?
