hello goodbye.

hello to the weekend, and goodbye to this work week.
i was so tired this week...maybe my late night marathon runs + the earlier [than normal] school wake-up calls...but i could barely stay awake when afternoon rolled around. so finally, i fell asleep at 8pm putting mini-he to bed last night...false lashes and all. haha. but now i'm recharged and ready for the weekend.

what's going on in your neck of the woods?

a few to try:

all the pretty flowers.

it wasn't the minty green that enticed me.
it wasn't the pretty florals that called my name.
it wasn't so much the fun romper that said, "try me on!"
it was the vibrant radiant orchid in the pretty florals against the minty green on the fun romper that screamed,
"i'm perfect for spring!"

a week of white denim. spring casual.

white denim at its spring best - paired with minty green.
if there's one hat you need, it's a fedora. a straw fedora is versatile because the style can be dressy, but the material is casual. i always have one in the car just in case. it's perfect for bad hair days, post- beach hair, and topping off a spring outfit.

a few photos below from a super wet hike this past weekend. this is normally an easy hike because it is relatively flat, but the mud made it challenging. mini-he was getting discouraged because he fell and was getting dirty, but i loved it. we've done this trail dry before...it was good exercise, but nothing exciting. this time, it was exciting. it felt adventurous.

do you wear hats? if so, what's your hat style?
are you the adventurous type?

mini-he was too cute...he kept "helping" me even though he was the one that kept slipping in the mud.

a week of white denim. shorts.

oh how i've missed you. my internet has been down since last thursday, and i was starting to have withdrawals. the cable guy should be at my house as we speak, so i'm hoping everything will be up and running by the time i get home. can't wait to catch up with you!

there's nothing better than white denim in spring. or summer. or winter, for that matter. there's just a freshness about it in the spring, a coolness in the summer, and a crispness in the winter. white jeans can be tricky (i wrote about how to shop for white denim here), and i found a great pair/brand that i'll be re-mixing the rest of the week. but first, let's start the week off with white denim shorts + a classic pin-striped boyfriend shirt for a casual day look.

it started to rain!

the silver watch.

for as long as i can remember, i loved watches. watches were functional for me, and i never swapped them out like jewelry. i'd usually have just one that i loved, big and masculine with a two-tone [gold & silver] metal band that would go with all of my accessories...and when the battery died, i'd get a new watch.
(i don't know why i can never get around to changing the battery...it's just easier to buy a new watch!)

my current watch is gold, and i've been needing a silver one for a while now. this fashion quartz watch from Born Pretty fills the void. it's masculine, has a good-sized face, and has just enough bling to be cool and not gaudy. in addition, it has a very nice weight to it for its price. if the watch looks big on my wrist, it is. i went to get it resized, but the repair shop near my office closed down!

do you wear watches? what style do you gravitate towards?

leopard shorts.

ending the week with a casual outfit. these animal printed shorts, while not the best quality, serve its purpose as being cute and comfortable. i'm wearing it here with a sweater that i've been wearing constantly. it was a lukewarm black friday purchase that i got just because it was 50% off. besides, i had been wanting a basic black sweater. turns out, it's navy. those darn gilly hicks / abercrombie / hollister stores are so dark, you can't see what you're buying. anyways, i still love the sweater and will probably grab a couple more because they are the perfect loose fit and are comfortably warm.

in my efforts to get mini-he more active and prepared for real hikes, i took him on this fairly easy trail up to the lighthouse. my niece came with us. i posted pictures of the makapu'u lighthouse trail before, but i never tire of seeing the big blue.

what are your plans for the weekend?

the half tee.

there. i said it.
i always feel a little disappointed when i see a beautiful, printed blouse...maybe it's stripes or florals or bird print...and maybe it has a fun buttons or cool pockets, then you turn it around, and...nothing...solid.
but in reverse? i'm kinda loving it. like this one from Patty's Closet [in windward mall]. it has the element of surprise. it may be a basic tee from the front, but turn around and find a fun, unexpected print in the back. plus, you always have the option to add oomph to the front with a great statement necklace.

all white.

happy friday. again.
the only good thing about a holiday during the week is that it's like having two fridays. my brain is slightly confused today...part of me struggled to get going this morning, because it felt like a monday after having 4th of july off. but i can also feel the excitement of butterflies in my tummy because the weekend is ahead.

yesterday, i had my fill of all-american food...hamburgers, hot dogs, and apple pie. now i'm ready for a healthy weekend of fresh fruits and salads, exercise, and more summer fun.

what's on your agenda?
