a week of white denim. shorts.

oh how i've missed you. my internet has been down since last thursday, and i was starting to have withdrawals. the cable guy should be at my house as we speak, so i'm hoping everything will be up and running by the time i get home. can't wait to catch up with you!

there's nothing better than white denim in spring. or summer. or winter, for that matter. there's just a freshness about it in the spring, a coolness in the summer, and a crispness in the winter. white jeans can be tricky (i wrote about how to shop for white denim here), and i found a great pair/brand that i'll be re-mixing the rest of the week. but first, let's start the week off with white denim shorts + a classic pin-striped boyfriend shirt for a casual day look.

it started to rain!

floral slip dress.

if this dress doesn't scream spring, i don't know what does! i found this little number at Patty's Closet and couldn't resist its open back. that, combined with the fact that it is totally sheer, will make it a fun cover-up at the beach house. but for a birthday tea party this past weekend, i wore a nude slip underneath. and a pair of tan shorts...just in case.

i'm rocking my bobby glam triple weft hair extensions for a little oomph. i'm only using three of the seven pieces, and you can already see a difference in fullness...compared to the party picture where i'm not wearing them. imagine what you could do with seven pieces. va va voom!

happy hump day.

the elbow patch jacket.

i went crazy for elbow patches last year, and i still love them. even better when they are on a classic tweed jacket. this jacket from Patty's Closet [Windward Mall] is a great alternative...it looks like tweed but isn't tweed, making it do-able for the warmer temps we have here.

over the weekend, my friend and i hosted a small holiday shopping event with a few vendors...thirty-one bags, [oomph.], anuhea designs, island keepsakes & island sea salts. there was chocolate and cheese fondue among other things, and an avon beauty bar with tons of samples to try. after the event, we hung out for wine tasting and an amazing steak dinner.

asparagus wrapped with ham...so yummy!

neutral and neon.

what a rainy weekend we had.
the bad? terrible picture weather. in addition to being rainy, it was humid and hot. the good? i saw two musicals which i'll share with you this week.

i loved the feathers and bright neon colors in this top from Persun. it's one of those dressier-than-a-tee shirts that is easy to wear and works well with everything from shorts to denim to pencil skirts. paired it here with a neutral denim which, coincidentally, had neon cuffs.

how's the weather in your neck of the woods?

summer peach + randomness.

my recent week of stripes showed that much of my stripes are black and white, so these stripes in summery peach are a refreshing addition. i've worn it with more stripes here and look
forward to pairing it with white denim.

random bits:
- after two weeks, the birds finally came
to dine at mini-he's birdhouse.
- tried the premium mcwrap...it's huge!
guess we are used to the snack wrap. it's good.
- we just planted an apple tree in our yard.
- summer giveaways coming soon (hint: check back tomorrow!)

looking forward to many outdoor meals this summer on our new picnic table. it's since been painted green.

mirrored aviators + juice cleanse.

the downside to photographing mirrored sunglasses?
your photographer [and whatever it is they are doing] is visible in your pictures. at one point i told mini-she that the camera needed to be lower, so she widened her stance. lower, i said.
so, with her legs still in a wide stance, she sunk down
into an awkward squat, took a few photos and said:
"you know i can see me, right?"
huh?
"you know you can see me, right?"
what?
"in your glasses! you can see me in your glasses!"
oh! then i guess you shouldn't squat like that!
and since mini-she loves to get herself in the pictures, it takes some strategy on my part, like looking down or slightly off to the side, to keep her silly poses out of my glasses.

i'm interested in a juice cleanse for me and mini-she. looking around at whole foods, i was surprised to find that they are $10 a pop...and how many do you have to drink a day? guess that's what you pay for convenience. what are your thoughts on a juice cleanse? have you tried it before? any recommendations?

neoprene + zippers.

i took a quick trip to kona on monday for work.
after my work was done, i stopped at the shopping center for lunch and a quick look-around. not much in terms of shopping...only a ross and jeans warehouse, but i did find this skirt which turned out to be quite awesome for its $10 price tag. the front is thick like neoprene, so it fits like a glove and keeps its shape,
and it doesn't ride up at the waist like i expected.

here's what i can tell you about kona:
1) the airport is old school (which i love), no fancy buildings or enclosed jetways. you walk right onto the tarmac and up a ramp.
2) the obvious...it's hot and voggy, but nice wide-open spaces.
3) they've gone green. the cashier asked me if i wanted to buy a bag. i said no, not thinking about what she meant. then she handed my items directly to me...to put in my own bag. ok, got it!
the good: they are going green
the bad: hard to keep track of your items. either one of the shirts i bought fell out of my bag, or she didn't give
it to me at all. kinda bummed.

driving along the main highway, this is what you see...
my purchases stuffed in my own bag...#gogreen.

printed denim.

tribal print kicks these denims up a notch and adds oomph to an otherwise simple outfit combination. minimal jewelry and basic heels give the printed denim the spotlight, while the bag
adds a touch of fun color.
by the time you read this, i'll be on a plane to kona...
see you back tomorrow.

how was your weekend?
