the silver watch.

for as long as i can remember, i loved watches. watches were functional for me, and i never swapped them out like jewelry. i'd usually have just one that i loved, big and masculine with a two-tone [gold & silver] metal band that would go with all of my accessories...and when the battery died, i'd get a new watch.
(i don't know why i can never get around to changing the battery...it's just easier to buy a new watch!)

my current watch is gold, and i've been needing a silver one for a while now. this fashion quartz watch from Born Pretty fills the void. it's masculine, has a good-sized face, and has just enough bling to be cool and not gaudy. in addition, it has a very nice weight to it for its price. if the watch looks big on my wrist, it is. i went to get it resized, but the repair shop near my office closed down!

do you wear watches? what style do you gravitate towards?

a muted palette.

when i saw this pretty colorblock infinity scarf from 9th & Elm, i knew i wanted to keep my overall look soft. the pastels and pretty lace detail lend a feminine vibe that seemed to be enhanced by a muted palette rather than bold colors. made from viscose, this scarf is incredibly soft and thin, and definitely substantial in size. and because it's lightweight, this is one scarf you can reach for throughout the year.

these JustFab signature skinny denims in this lighter wash, blue dream, worked perfectly for this muted look. (see the darker wash here. i'm constantly rotating between these two every week...so comfortable!) i finished off the look with this faded green military jacket for a bit of color.

will you be rocking a softer palette for spring?
or do you prefer bright and bold colors?

reversible tote + email your kids.

i finally got around to using this reversible bag i ordered during christmas. it came in a bunch of bright colors, but i opted for this black/blood red one for ultimate versatility. i like that it is nondescript and doesn't have any pronounced hardware. i'm wearing my JustFab skinny denim with this super comfy trapeze tank. it's perfect for humid summers because it doesn't cling to your body. they are super cheap from a local store, so i always grab them whenever i see them. of course, i had to have the leopard one.

i came across an idea for kids recently; i heard about it years ago but it appealed to me this time around. the idea is to create an email account and reserve a (personalized) email address for your child...the thought being that many email addresses will be taken by the time they are old enough to have an account. throughout the years, email them. a note here and there, pictures from school, play dates, vacations, or random candids, and give them the password to the account when they're 18 years of age (or whenever you choose).

while i'm not concerned about saving them an email address, i do love the idea of creating somewhat of a virtual scrapbook or journal that you can give them when they are older. i can't even tell you how many scrapbooks and decorative papers and die-cuts and paper punches i have bought with the intention of creating scrapbooks for my kids. i've never completed one. but email? i can do. right from my phone. at the moment. after all, this is the age of technology.

if you're a parent, is this an idea you would consider?
how do you document your child's memories and milestones?

some sample emails to your child...
it's a great way to keep those photos safe throughout the years, plus it doesn't take up storage space!

mint on mint.

i might have been feeling minty.
i stumbled upon this mint top at Patty's Closet last week and loved the [faux] leather shoulder accents. i wanted the overall look to feel...soft, so i paired the top with these JustFab pearlescent denims in a slightly lighter shade of mint and these bone-colored heels from Lulu's.

a while back, i mentioned that my camera lens stopped auto-focusing...which is tragic for a self-photographing blogger! i apologize for the sub par photos recently, but i'm not quite ready to dish out $700 for this canon 18-200mm lens that
i really want...so bear with me.

do you have a dslr camera?
what lens is on your camera right now?

neutral and neon.

what a rainy weekend we had.
the bad? terrible picture weather. in addition to being rainy, it was humid and hot. the good? i saw two musicals which i'll share with you this week.

i loved the feathers and bright neon colors in this top from Persun. it's one of those dressier-than-a-tee shirts that is easy to wear and works well with everything from shorts to denim to pencil skirts. paired it here with a neutral denim which, coincidentally, had neon cuffs.

how's the weather in your neck of the woods?

pearlescent mint + hoop earrings.

pastels and florals...it doesn't get any more spring-y than this.
even though i already have a pair of mint cargos, i liked that these denims had a pearlescent sheen to them.
you can see it in the detail shot below.

i just wanted to drop in and say hi again. things are still busy at work, but i'm slowly catching up around here. i never really pay attention to the seasons because it's pretty much summer year-round where i live...but it's been rainy for the past few weeks. there's even a flash flood warning for 6pm tonight. guess this is what you might call spring showers.
hopefully they bring may flowers.

i love that the diamonds are on the inside of the hoop since that's the part we see. makes sense, right?
the minis had some QT of their own...
i brought out these rocks [in the yard] so that mini-he could drive them around in his dump truck, but it started to rain. so in the house they came and out came the paint. on sunday they painted one side and let them dry. monday, they painted the other side. TWO days these rocks kept them busy. who knew?!
