peach + crosses.

i took one test shot before it started to rain, nonstop; so this one shot is all i got. on the hanger, the strings on this top looked like trouble...a complicated and potentially tangled mess. it did make it to the dressing room, however, and it wasn't at all what i expected. your arms went under all of that, and the strings fell nicely on your shoulder. it turned out to be a pretty, oomph-worthy detail. of course, i had to balance that pretty with some bad a$$ crosses. these cute shorts have pockets (sold!) and are fully lined (bonus!). and for some reason (maybe the crosses?), i wanted to wear some kick a$$ boots, so i threw on my favorite JustFab boots with some black tights to
elongate my legs.

just curious, what lip color are you currently loving?

the elbow patch jacket.

i went crazy for elbow patches last year, and i still love them. even better when they are on a classic tweed jacket. this jacket from Patty's Closet [Windward Mall] is a great alternative...it looks like tweed but isn't tweed, making it do-able for the warmer temps we have here.

over the weekend, my friend and i hosted a small holiday shopping event with a few vendors...thirty-one bags, [oomph.], anuhea designs, island keepsakes & island sea salts. there was chocolate and cheese fondue among other things, and an avon beauty bar with tons of samples to try. after the event, we hung out for wine tasting and an amazing steak dinner.

asparagus wrapped with ham...so yummy!

the cut-out sweater.

fall, are you coming?
because i have lots of sweaters waiting to be worn.
i'm not kidding when i say i have been living in this sweater. i've worn it to work, to the movies, to the store, out shopping, lunching, and having wine with the neighborhood mamas. it's one of those that you kinda wish you bought a second one for backup.

it was mini-she's birthday weekend. i tried to plan a last-minute surprise dinner with a few of her friends on friday night...it ended up raining, and traffic was bad. plus, all of the restaurants had a 45min-1hr wait. we hopped around to several different restaurants and finally settled on mexican. (thanks, T, for treating us!). in the end, the girls had a good time.

how was your weekend?

top: after mexican, we stopped at menchies for fro-yo.
bottom: her ice cream cake from yesterday's celebration
with the family.

crops + boots.

with regards to personal style, i think it's important to take risks...dress outside of the box, as i like to say.
otherwise, we never change; and change is good.
take this cardigan from Patty's Closet, for instance. while i loved the [faux] leather trims and zipper details, the idea of a long in front, cropped in back style never really appealed to me. i tried it on anyways with an open mind, and to my surprise, i liked it. here's why it worked for me: i'm short. the cropped back elongates by showing off the entire length of my legs while still giving the illusion of a longer style in front. to further elongate, i threw on these tall platform boots from JustFab.
i'm glad i tried something different and found a
new favorite cardigan in doing so.

do you take risks or play it safe when it
comes to your personal style?
what did you try that was different from your norm?

JustFab Valletta boot.
love, love, love these boots. i chose the Valletta because it had a smaller calf circumference. i was unsure about the platform and 5-inch heel height, but it's comfortable and easy to walk in. this style seems to run a 1/2 size smaller which worked out perfectly for me. JustFab is ON right now; i love everything i've been getting. JustFab recently launched its LUXE line of genuine leather shoes. i purchased the remington and
eagerly await its arrival.
