even though we have good weather year round, i get excited for summer months because [with the minis out of school] we can stray from our normal routines. i'm looking forward to getting outdoors, exercising, and eating healthy. mini-she just finished her track & field season at school, and i've been encouraging her to continue her workouts at home. mini-he will need a little more convincing. he just got his first pair of athletic shoes, "just like mom's"...hopefully that keeps him interested.
there's been a lot of hype over "green" smoothies, so i've been browsing for some recipes to try. i love to eat my fruits and veggies, and given the choice between a spinach salad or a spinach smoothie, i'd probably choose the salad. luckily, my kids have no problem eating their fruits and veggies either. but, i am curious and want to know if you really can't taste the greens.
my mom makes carrot/fruit juice, and i CAN taste the carrots.
where do you stand on this?
do you prefer to eat or drink your veggies?
another polish from butter london's nude collection. as with most
opaque polishes, this one was really difficult to apply. even with a base coat, two coats of polish, and a top coat, the polish
chipped after a couple of days. i like the color, though.

I think next time you should provide your leg workout - personally speaking my favorite parts to train - because I'm liking the way you look in shorts. Not one sign of cellulite. So not fair!
If you go to Lanikai Juice, their "green drinks" are super good! There's 3 different ones! I love to juice and am one of those that have to force myself to choice to eat salads. I try really hard to eat healthy, but I'm a junk food junkie!:(
Thanks for doing this post! It is keeping me motivated! I've been getting outside and working out more. Trying to find different outlets to keep me motivated. Ugh! It's so hard to stay on track!

The Butter London nail polish is really cute but it sucks how it chips so fast.
And as for your veggie question - I definitely prefer eating than drinking them. Especially carrots...I hate drinking carrot juice cause of the taste. It's funny how it's not the same when you eat it compared to drinking. I'm not sure about green veggie drinks but recently my mom bought a special blending machine and we've been making all sorts of stuff - from soy milk to beet juice (applies, beets, pears and a bit of lemon juice). It's actually not too bad. :)
Oh yea, your running shoes are really cute!! You're a reminder that I should get back to doing physical activity. I've been so lazy ever since I got out of high school lol.

I drink a lot of green smoothies (in fact, just had one for breakfast - it was raspberries, banana, spinach, almond butter, flax seed, chia seeds, and water). My FAVEY FAVE, though, is 1 c spinach, 1-1/2 c pineapple, 1 banana, 4 clementines (just the juice), 1/2 lime juice, 1 tsp turmeric, 1 scoop protein powder, 1 tbs chia seeds, and 1 tsp minced ginger. SO. GOOD.
You seriously have no idea how badly I want to move there!! It just snowed here on Monday AND Tuesday. In April. Whyyyyy? I'm so ready to play outside with my baby every day.
I LOVE green smoothies. You honestly can't taste the spinach! I'm not sure about kale, I've never added that to my smoothies. But I love the smoothies because I can pack in a day's work of fruits and veggies, where I rarely eat a day's worth, you know? And we put carrots in our smoothies and can't taste 'em. Juicing is probably different than smoothies as far as what you can taste.

Good question! In my limited experience, you can taste that there is something green in the smoothie but it's not bad. I've tried both spinach and kale and as long as you don't add a ridiculous amount, it's really negligible and quite good. Of course, if you load up on the greens, then be prepared :) I love eating salads and probably prefer that to "drinking" them. The theory is that we don't fully digest when we chew and so "drinking" veggies is better for us.
I'm good with doing either :)
