fade to black.

it's so hard to photograph black.
all the oomph-worthy details seem to fade away.
i've had to nix several outfit posts already because the photos didn't do them justice.
when i bought this sweater for the store, it was shown buttoned up and belted...so i've always worn it buttoned up and belted, like a dress, over bodycons or tights.
it's thin and light-weight with drapey lapels...none of which you can see in the photos.
but, i never thought to just leave it open.
it's the perfect work-appropriate solution for this backless dress.

(dress, armani exchange, simone sweater, available @ oomph (email me); belt, coach)

There is nothing quite as chic as layered black. I know we're missing a lot of the detail, but I still think it looks incredibly becoming on you :)

I agree, I love wearing black and it looks great in person, but photos are difficult. You did a good job though, that outfit looks fantastic.

I agree, black doesn't photograph as well as it looks in real life. Nice outfit.

Wow! what a great look! I love the belt (tan) against the black. Fab shoes too! Hard to photograph black...you don't see details and sometimes blends together. This look is great! Love it!

what a smart solution to turning backless dress into something work-appropriate. Love how you chose brown shoes instead of black or gray.
