i survived.

the weekend, that is. saturday morning downpours cancelled our hike, so we ended up grabbing coffee and catching up. although i missed out on the workout, it probably was best. my head was stuffy and i had a lot of sinus pressure...probably would have pushed myself too far, especially with the six hour shopping marathon i did after that. but happy to say that i've finished 98% of my shopping. yes, still not done, but the remaining are gift cards. tonight i'll be wrapping presents and getting ready for our office party tomorrow. i may be wearing this sequined ensemble for tomorrow's work festivities. the skirt is from Patty's Closet. if you need a last minute party outfit, Patty's Closet has lots of cozy sweaters, dresses, and sparkly sequins, all of which are appropriate for the holidays. and, for more ideas on what to wear to your parties, you can check out the latest East vs West Coast series here.

if you follow me on instagram, you may have seen my new 50mm f/1.4 camera lens. if you are a self-photographing blogger without a lot of working space, this may not be the ideal lens. you'll have to set up far, far away from the camera to get full length shots like these, and you risk focusing on everything between you and the camera. but still an amazing lens (can you tell the difference?!) that works wonderfully for portraits, cropped bodies and general photography.

new white denim, but this time heavily distressed. worn with a loose tee (in black, white, or gray), heels, and a utility jacket, this has been my most recent go-to. we had flash flood warnings again this weekend, so this jacket has again proved its worth...and i like that. even though my closet is full,

there are only a few things that i constantly reach for. i'm slowly transforming my closet so that it is full of things

i love to wear. 

i had another busy weekend which i'll share throughout the week. i participated in our local march for babies walk on saturday morning. it was a casual 5 mile walk from waikiki to ala moana and back. this is the second walk we participated in this year, and we're already looking forward to the next...because exercising while supporting great causes makes you feel pretty top gun.

my thoughts are all over the place today, so just some random bits...a simple outfit with a skirt found in the motherload and a top that i never wear, a fun project for the minis,

four theater and film majors, who believe they will live like movies stars, are faced with reality after graduation. although they are seemingly living it up and enjoying life, each has their own personal struggles and worries after graduation. the girls have a chemistry that i might mildly compare to the girls of SATC...differrent personalities, supportive of each other, jealous of each other, etc. overall a cute movie.

same but different.

as i was putting this post together, it hit me that this outfit looked strangely familiar. sure enough, after searching my archives, i did post this very shirt + skirt combo. i guess when i grab something leatherish, i automatically think of leopard.

i am wearing a different sweater and different shoes and different accessories...so i'm calling it a new outfit.

yesterday, i came across yet another blog going on hiatus.

this is the fourth one announced in the year i've been blogging, not to mention countless others that have just quietly disappeared. and although we've never personally met, we've connected on some level and saw each other on a weekly basis. i can't help but feel a little sad. kinda like when your favorite lip color is discontinued. sure, new [blog] friends will be made, but the ones that leave us will be missed.
