patty's closet. the floral blouse.

i love the simplicity of jeans and a tee.
it's comfortable and practical for anyone who's on the go.
but on the occasion that you need a more polished look, swap out your cotton tee for a silk or chiffon tee. this bright blue blouse from Patty's Closet is the perfect example of a dressier "tee". i kept the flats for comfort, added a few key accessories, and layered a vest for depth. i could easily throw on a blazer and my red heels for an evening out.

visit Patty's Closet to find a location near you, and do
check out their selection of printed tops.

f'real milkshakes
these shake machines hit gas station convenience stores recently, and according to mini-she, they're all the rage. so, we had to give it a try. there's always a line, and each shake takes 1 minute, 7 seconds. after you select your flavor from the refrigerators, this is what happens: see video clip.
oh, and they're good, but at a whopping 500+ calories,
they will be more of an exception than the norm.
do you have f'real shakes in your area?

two faced.

when you get to be my age, you kinda stop counting the birthdays. you actually count backwards and start repeating birthdays. but acknowledgement and celebration are important to the minis. i woke up to a handmade card from mini-she. she wants to surprise me all the while asking, "where's the construction paper? where's the tape? what's your favorite kind of cake?
what do you think you'll want to eat for dinner?"
mini-he sees her card and says, "mama, can i draw you
a flower for your birthday? or a heart?" so sweet.
just for these moments, i want to keep having birthdays.

my day continued with fresh baked cookies from a work neighbor and friend, S. they were warm and chewy, just how i like them. then i had a wonderful lunch with good friends, good food, and good conversation at a restaurant i've been wanting to try. thanks, L & S! and when i got back to the office, i was greeted with the prettiest lillies from my friend, D.
if you guys are reading, thanks for the bestest birthday!

bre asked me if i was a taurus. may 21st actually falls on the cusp...most times i'm considered a gemini. once in a while i fall under taurus. guess that makes me a two-faced bull?

sp-egg-tacular.

i don't know about you, but i always get eggstra eggcited about easter. this year, it came too fast and i wasn't fully prepared, but we did have a little bit of an egg hunt around the house and indulged in eggnormous amounts of food and candy. i always like to see what kind of new candy they come out with. last year, i was introduced to edible easter grass and bought some this year. it's so fun to eat. mini-he had fun coloring eggs. his final egg was swirled and swirled in every color for a good 20 minutes until it was an ugly brown. but, by morning it was kind of pretty. all the scratches (from his stirring) allowed the pretty colors to show thru. it's quite a
speggtacular masterpiece, i'd say...compared to mine.

what's your favorite part of easter?

feels so good.

notice anything different?
my nails are painted!
i stopped painting them for a while because of mini-he, but couldn't resist any longer. i'm just loving bubble gum pinks.
i didn't have the exact shade i was hoping for, but mini-she had something similar. it was pretty sheer, so i had to use three coats to achieve this color. if you are craving bubble gum, too, here are some similar shades that i love:

i'm also wearing the mark flip-over reversible skirt that
i talked about here. i'll have to make some alterations because it's a few sizes too big, but the style is
just what i've been looking for.

any big plans for the weekend?

it's official...the holiday season is here! starbucks says so.
