chevron clutch.

when it's a jeans and tee kind of day, i rely on accessories to add oomph to my outfits. my friend made these super fun chevron clutches which i gave to my friends for christmas. she recently delivered mine (the green was out of stock at the time), and i love it. she always puts thought into her bags and comes out
with the cutest combinations for the interior lining.

(starfish cuff, blue vanilla)
foxy brown kept sneaking in and messing up my camera's focus.

a week of animals. horses and dogs.

round em up! there really are dogs in the print.
i pointed one out in the close-up.
you can read all about this horse print dress and see it actually worn as a dress here. it's a few sizes too big, but i haven't had the guts to cut and alter this vintage dress, so i'm trying it out here as a duster.

so far we've had zebras, deer, horses, and dogs.
can you guess whoooo will be making an appearance next?

(vintage dress, thrifted (horses); black dress, american apparel (buy),
shoes, nine west (buy))

in case you missed it:

giddy up.

after obsessing about these animal prints, i can't believe this dress is still sitting in my closet, unworn. i finally found my horse print dress at this cute little vintage/thrift shop in town. i was on my way out when i spotted the dress on the window mannequin. i ran back in and told the lady i wanted it. she was hesitant to go thru the trouble of getting it because she thought it was too big for me, but i told her just get the darn dress i'd make it work. i'll have to make time to take it in and shorten it so that i can actually wear it out, but for now it's pinned and tucked under this wide belt.

happy aloha friday!

"georgia" stole my heart when she was the adorable "olivia" on a different world and the cosby show. now she's all growed up and still stealing my heart with...all her fabulous outfits. the characters are high-larious, too, but the girl rocks some seriously stylish outfits. gorgeous maxi dresses, cute colorful trousers, and the jewels. the amazeballs jewels. i was definitely inspired. this one gets a:

the right answer.

being that i'm only 5'-2" (5'-3" on my driver's license),
i will wear heels wherever and whenever possible.
and, if the world were a sex and the city movie set, i'd happily run around in shorts and high heels as carrie did.
unfortunately, it's not, and certain occasions call for something a bit more casual. when oxfords hit the blogosphere, i thought they would be my answer to a casually chic shoe. i set out to find a pair only to find them too pointy, too rounded, too manly, too...too...flat.
it was casual, it was chic, and most importantly, it had height.
they didn't have my size, of course, so i scoured the internet for the next best option and found these on ebay.

this weekend, i also lucked out at this cute little
vintage-thrift shop called, sugarcane.
i found this amazing ring and a vintage horse-print dress!
the ring is missing many stones,
but it was my size and i couldn't pass it up.
the dress wasn't my size, but i couldn't pass it up either.

if you stopped by yesterday, you'll know that i participated in an accessory swap with reva of revasrags2roses. reva's hair is always decorated with pretty scarves...
a look i love but never seem to be able to pull off.
well, i decided to step outside of the box and
embrace that style.
prepare yourselves for an [oomph.] first:

complete with vintage scarf and feathers!

what style or trend do you want to try?

i forgot my camera on this day.

gimme give you.

last month i participated in an accessory swap
hosted by pam at over50feeling40.
i mean, who doesn't love getting packages...
packages chock full of accessories for that matter?
and, that is exactly what i got.
i was paired with reva of revasrags2roses who went above and beyond sending me all kinds of goodies. i refrained from telling her what i liked, because i thought this would be a great opportunity for me to accessorize outside of the box. she actually sent a couple of pieces that fit my current style, like feather hair pins and a huge silver statement necklace, as well as some vintage and pre-owned pieces that she loves, like a beautiful scarf and purse. also included were some fun pink hair extensions, a bodysuit, a vintage key,
and a whistle signifying city safety.
i LOVE every piece...thank you, reva!

i had so much fun playing around with the accessories that i didn't know which outfit to post first. here's how i incorporated the pieces into my own style.
check back tomorrow as i do it up...reva style.

(jumpsuit, armani exchange; sweater, l.a. store; shoes, aldo)

let's head on over to see how reva styled her pieces.

red haute.

last week, i mentioned that i won a few giveaways and gave you a peek at this necklace. here is the prize in its entirety. this giveaway, hosted by julie at haute khuuture, was for one of eight packages (an item of clothing + accessory). among the eight items was a maxi dress, a leopard blouse, and a blazer...all of my favorites, right? instead, i chose this red vintage tunic for two reasons; it's color, and it's way out of my comfort zone...forcing myself to dress outside of the box.
in order to feel comfortable in this screaming red color, i dressed it down with boots and carried around this equally bright green satchel to pull some of the attention
away from the red.

i have since thrown this bib necklace over evvrything. i've been looking for one of these for a while now, and i think the void has finally been filled.

thanks, julie!
