feathers.

rocking feathers in my hair.
a fairly neutral outfit with some splashes of orange-red throughout. this clutch was a gift from my friends over at sisters marie, the creators of Because I Shop Too Much. do check out their amazing site if you are looking to swap or sell your clothes, or if you are interested in some great deals on new and pre-loved items. with summer coming to an end, this is the perfect time to update your closet for fall.

i haven't done a FLIXology in a while,
so scroll down for a must see.

do you swap, sell, or buy second hand clothes?
if so, which app or site do you use?

this series follows a seemingly normal, young, white woman imprisoned for a crime she committed over ten years ago. there is so much emotion, comedy, and drama as the story of each inmate unfolds. there are characters you love and ones you love to hate, but they are all an integral part of the story line. my reaction to the season finale? holy, holy $hit! OMFG! the question still unanswered...does prison change a person, or does it make them realize who they really are?

randomness.

my thoughts are all over the place today, so just some random bits...a simple outfit with a skirt found in the motherload and a top that i never wear, a fun project for the minis,
and a cute movie i saw this week.

these fizzures in the ice.
thanks to maya at soccer mom style for this fun idea.

four theater and film majors, who believe they will live like movies stars, are faced with reality after graduation. although they are seemingly living it up and enjoying life, each has their own personal struggles and worries after graduation. the girls have a chemistry that i might mildly compare to the girls of SATC...differrent personalities, supportive of each other, jealous of each other, etc. overall a cute movie.

picture this.

tired of seeing this book?
me too. i hope to finish it soon. i was thinking about the characters and wondered what they looked like. one of the main characters is an ex-pro basketball star with all the physical traits that go along with that, plus he's a badass agent of some sort who can fight his was out of a sticky situation.
but his name is myron. i just can't picture it.

don't you wish all books were made into movies?
do you put much thought into the characters as you read a book?

a mix-up in paperwork has highschooler, jane, living a double life as a twenty-something assistant in the fast-paced world of fashion. jane sports the most amazing outfits and is always (literally) running around in fabulous heels. the show has a nice balance of teen drama, workplace politics, and flirty romances...a little something for everyone. i was surprised to learn that this is a new show and look forward to the summer premier in june.

experimenting with extremes. florals.

it's the floral blouse again.
i was getting tired of trying to pair it with bright bottoms, figured black would be too boring, and denim just ok. i didn't have the right striped bottom and thought leopard would just be over the top (although, i'm ok with over the top!). that left florals, and i had the perfect skirt to match. the flowers are similar in size, both prints are somewhat watercolor-ish, and both are black-based...which all seemed cohesive in my mind.
i guess this would be my take on the head-to-toe print trend.

this past sunday was absolutely gorgeous. while waiting for mini-she, my friend and i packed our little coolers full of beer, chips and salsa, babybel cheese, and sushi, and headed to the beach park. we took a long walk then enjoyed our
adult beverages while the boys played.

in case you missed it:

pippa, a travel writer who doesn't see the point of marriage or commitment, is forced to rethink her take on love when she temporarily takes control of her father's wedding magazine. the storyline is predictable, but i like graham and her free-spirited character. overall, a cute movie.

country bump.

i just want to say that i'm looking forward to march.
this month we will be full-blown into softball season, there are several school functions to attend, and i have tentative plans to meet up with the girls at a beach house.
things are looking up!

any big plans for march?

ok, i love, love, LOVED this show. tara suffers from dissociative identity disorder, better known as multiple personality disorder. by the show's finale, she has five eccentric "alters" who appear at the most inopportune times. her teen son struggling with his sexual identity, her daughter trying to find her place in the world, and husband who loves her to death all try to lead normal lives while tara struggles to get to the root of her problem. this is a must see.

orange dreamsicle.

this is the probably the one coat that i own, and i've had it for over ten years. i'd love to wear it more often, but our weather just doesn't allow for anything like this.
it's black velour and quite heavy.

this weekend my friend got me hooked on a drink that i now call the orange dreamsicle. it's a screwdriver (orange juice + vodka) made with pinnacle whipped vodka. the flavored vodka makes the consistency seem creamy and thick. the following day, i ran out and got two bottles...one to replenish my friend's stock and one for me. i've been indulging in orange dreamsicles all week.

yummmmm.

professional sportswriter, pj, has difficulty finding love in her world of sports and boys. her tomboyish approach to relationships and her inability to separate from her predominantly male group of friends often intimidated potential suitors. the show mostly took place in her apartment or at their favorite neighborhood bar where the gang chit-chatted over random nothingness. it was a pleasant show with eccentric characters and its share of good laughs. for my ability to relate to having best guy-friends, this gets a:

let's blow this popsicle stand.

TGTIF.
(thank goodness thursday is friday)
i thought it was thursday and was pleasantly
surprised to realize it's actually friday. yay!
after typing and deleting, typing and deleting, i just can't find the right words today. so, i'll wish you all a fabulous weekend and leave it at that.

what are your plans for the weekend?

i remember these being much bigger when i was a kid.
they seem so tiny now...

this british show follows the lives of the staff at a glamorous five-star hotel, where a guest's request is their command...no matter how bizarre. the hotel's eccentric guests play an equally important role. the entire cast is charming and charismatic and sexy. even the theme music is sexy. i fell in love with the original cast in seasons one and two and was a little disappointed when four of the main characters left. season three was questionable as new characters were thrown into the mix (and this is probably when ratings dropped), but i enjoyed the chemistry of the new characters by the end of the fourth season. this is a must see and most definitely gets a:
