inside the mind of a kid.

talking about opposites one night at the dinner table...

sister #1: what is the opposite of short?
mini-he: pants

and he is absolutely correct.

have you met mark yet? it's the last week.
scroll down for the party.

it's amazing how a sheet of stickers can keep
a child busy for an hour.

saying goodbye is hard to do.

as i write this, my dog, bo, will be going to sleep...forever.
he is a 15-yr old terrier-chow mix.
i swear he has/had nine lives.
i bought him as a puppy in colorado.
he lived in the snow.
rode the airplane back home to hawaii.
stayed in quarantine for three months.
survived two dog fights with foxy brown,
resulting in one surgery,
and has since been dealing with liver failure,
among other things.
yet, you'll still find him at the dinner table every night begging for food.
my hope is that bobo will still be there when i get home.
that the family reconsidered and decided to care for him
a little while longer...

goodbye.

cream cheese + crab won tons.

nightmare on oomph street.

i had one of those nightmares that was just too real for comfort.
i always think of "what if" situations in my head...
then shudder at the thought.
they usually involve the minis,
so maybe it's just me being a paranoid mom.

it was late monday night (early tuesday morning) after the whole target online thing, and i knew i had to be up in a few hours. it felt as though i had just closed my eyes when mini-he was on a balcony and fell thru a tiny slot where the floor met the glass railing. it seemed like i was right next to him, but it took forever to reach him. i looked over and he had fallen onto the balcony below. i frantically told him not to move, that i was coming down to get him. he sort of looked at me with a smile, then walked to the railing and squeezed thru the opening between the wall and the railing and fell. there was silence for a few seconds, then i heard him screaming. i started screaming. i froze and couldn't see anything. then, i heard a BOOM. it was some big truck unloading something at mcdonalds across the street. i looked over and saw mini-he sprawled out on my bed.
i picked my heart up off the floor then hugged him
like there was no tomorrow.

some scary shiz.

mute the shine.

are sequins only for the holidays?
bought this vest last christmas, but wanted to get more mileage out of it the rest of the year.
i toned it down by layering it over a similar colored tee
and found it totally do-able for summer.

a big thanks to lucia of dior bless you for the tigreton prize. she always puts together cute outfits that are simple and feminine.

seven quirks facts:
1) i hit the snooze button at least two times
2) when i find something i love, i buy it in evvry color
3) i always lose my parking ticket, then find it
4) i always choose the window seat when traveling on airplanes
5) i used to love silly putty
6) still get a kick out of blowing bubbles
7) occasionally crave (dunkin donuts) buttermilk donuts

tell me one of your quirks in the comments.

neon love.

despite the blogger fiasco yesterday, i felt quite cheery walking around in this bright yellow neon tank. i've been loving the look of neon paired with just about anything...beige, black, white, and even other bright colors. after a week with the white blazer, i had to give my black blazer some love.

i just about died when i saw this essie display at my local drug store...fully stocked, no less. i wanted to get one of each color, but 58 shades x eight bucks a pop + tax = four hundred eighty something dollars. so i narrowed it down to tart deco. it looked soft and opalescent in the bottle, but turned out to be opaque and almost neon. i love it, actually.
this will be a summer essential.

trash to treasure part deux.

this is the other dress my sister was getting rid of.
remember the first one here?
i love armani exchange for their attention to detail, and this dress was no exception. with a long, double-ended zipper, which allows you to expose as much (or as little) as you want, this dress was definitely a keeper.
it's a bit short for my liking; wish it were a tad longer. it's also too hot here for stockings, but the dress totally zips open...maybe it would work as a vesty thing over another
(hot pink!) dress or skirt.
anyhow, there was no time for creativity this morning.
i'll have to keep experimenting with this one.

a safer thrift.

i mentioned before that i'm not much of a thrifter, because
1) we don't really have any shops here, and
2) the ones that we do have aren't on my daily path of travel.
sadly, i only venture out to these places on october 30th when i'm desperate for a halloween costume. but that's when i found my now favorite leopard blouse, here.
still, i'm amazed at what people find while thrifting, so i decided to make the trek.
ok, i really love the idea of thrifting, but it's kind of like shopping at...ross. racks and racks of stuff thrown together; it's overwhelming. a few blouses at this place were a bit sketchy...i mean, check it below - one of them even had someone's lunch from who knows when?!

this fabulous blouse, on the other hand, didn't require any travelling, nor did it come with dinner. just a few clicks at stilettos and diaper bags' shop my closet section, and it was all mine. i must confess that i find a bit of comfort in knowing exactly who was wearing the stuff before.

on that note, i've been working on the [marketplace.] and hope to get the first round of items up this week.

a blouse with a side of rice? no thank you.

lady luxe tux.

black and white always remind me of the classic tuxedo.
and the tail of this skirt sorta resembles the coat tail.
anyways, black never photographs well,
so just some detail shots here.

on another note, i've been terrible in accepting awards and have lots to catch up on. so scroll on down for some random facts about me.

huge thanks to bonnie of glam kitten's litterbox for the stylish blogger award. she always entertains me with her brutally honest commentary on just about evvrything.
seriously, never a dull moment.
as bonnie would say...
ch-check her out.

and

another shout out to aie of in aie's shoes for the versatile blogger award. as the title of her blog suggests...she has an amazing collection of shoes. only a shoe lover would think to use her excess denim as shoe dust bags. love.

1. 99% of the time, i never change my watch batteries. once it dies, i buy a new watch.
2. i love the smell of rubber. passing by sports authority i sometimes get a whiff of their shoes. it's like a drug.
3. i haven't really watched tv in two years. i catch up on all my shows via casttv.com
4. i usually only wear rings on my pointer fingers, unless they were custom made. my ring sizes are between 4-5. i usually find size 6s which will fit loosely on my pointers.
5. i like to swear, so i make up words that are more kid-friendly. for example, i like to say shit, but they kids should hear shoot. so i say shnit. they're clueless, and i'm somewhat satisfied.
6. if i didn't have kids, i'd be riding a motorcycle.
7. i feel the need to pronouce those word verification words. seriously, who does that? me. that way i can type it fast...like a real word...without looking.

i'm supposed to pick seven of you, but you are all amazing.

office policy.

sometimes my guilty conscience catches up with me.
we are a professional office, but i don't
always dress professional.
i mean, who wears leather shorts and
five inch platforms to the office?
me.
i do.
still, i have to throw in something office appropriate
every once in a while.
but i'm keeping the platforms.

what's your work attire like? do you have a dress code?
