big blue: makapu'u lighthouse trail.

this past weekend mini-she and i joined my friend and her family on the kaiwi shoreline trail...otherwise known as the makapu'u lighthouse trail. it's a 2-mile paved trail that leads up to spectacular views of the windward side of oahu. it's a great place to spot humpback whales as they travel through the channel between december and april. this moderate hike is a great workout for your legs because of the steady incline to the top. it was my first time on the trail, and i now call it the big blue...because all you see when you look out is blue sea.

nothing but blue.
you can't actually get to the little lighthouse,
but it's pretty against the blue backdrop.
manana and kaohikaipu islands to the right and
moloka'i in the far distance.
and...we're out!
next stop? yogurtland!

DON'T FORGET TO...

Oh wow... I STILL can't get over the fact you live in Hawaii. I mean geez, that's where all the famous sitcom families go on vacation. It's practically another world when you live way up in Canada :) And all that water! I don't know how I'd feel being on an island so far from a continent, seems pretty mind blowing. Or maybe nature and the world just awes me too much hah.
