this past weekend, jackie was in town, so we met up for lunch and shopping. (we also met up here and here). she's currently taking a break from blogging to focus on school, but you can still check out some of her awesome looks on fashionation street.

i've had a bunch of sephora gifts cards for a while now and always left empty-handed because the store is overwhelming! this time i actually needed things, so it was easier to narrow down the choices. i needed an everyday powder, so i bought laura mercier's foundation powder at their recommendation. so far i'm loving it.

a new gel eyeliner was on my list, so i decided to try sephora's pitch black all-in-one liner.

i think i'm the last person to try these sugar kisses.

i finally bought one, and they surprised me with

the mini duo set for my free birthday gift.

(sephora now has a mino trio, just in time for mother's day.)

a hangout is never complete without food and drinks...

july is gone, and in looking back at my resolutions,

i failed to sleep early, exercise, and read,

but it turned out to be a productive month:

- [oomph.] is finally on facebook.

- the neighborhood moms and i started walking after

the kids are asleep...5.2 miles at 10pm.

- had girls' night out at a restaurant i've never tried.

- spent an afternoon with jackie of fashionation street.

 - tried some new revlon products.

- rediscovered quinoa.

 

and...

 

i got to meet the sweet and stylish local [maui] blogger, sharon, of elisharon for the first time. she was on oahu celebrating her birthday with her equally stylish husband, eli, of the style pirate. i'm happy that they were able to squeeze me in for a quick lunch at the whole ox. they were both so nice, and it was fun to chat with them about our favorite places

to shop and eat. a huge thanks to the pirate

oomph + fashionation street.

following bear's birthday on friday, i had the pleasure of meeting up with fellow hawaii blogger, jackie of fashionation street. the first time we met, i was in hilo for work. this time, she came to oahu for the weekend. we spent the afternoon shopping, lunching, and taking pictures. the bright afternoon sun and shadows presented a bit of a challenge, sending us running all over the place trying to find the best spot for pictures. in the end we had a great time and parted ways

with another blogger meet-up under our belt and

more memories for the books blog.

i'm wearing one of those dresses i was crushing on a couple weeks ago here. i took the advice of some by "sleeping on it"...and woke up still wanting it. so i got it. it was perfect for all the walking we did that day and casual-yet-dressy-enough for a dinner i was headed to that evening.

blogger meet-up: hilo.

 i flew up to hilo for work yesterday, so i took the opportunity to meet up with a couple of bloggers in the area. along with sara of aqui and jackie of fashionation street, i had a blast chatting about our favorite blogs, exploring the town, and, of course, taking lots of pictures. we checked out a new boutique in town and made it on their facebook page

for "look of the week".

this was my first ever blogger meet-up, and it was so much fun.
