lace shorts.

it's been a busy day, so i'm calling it a semi-wordless wednesday. i thought these lace shorts would come in handy with spring around the corner. i'm wearing it here with a flowy top that drapes and follows the same scalloped lines of the shorts....so even though the textures are different, it still feels cohesive. i also like that the longer shirt tucked only in the front gives just a peek of the lace. but check back later this week for a remix of these shorts that is ballz to the wall extreme lace.

what spring trend are you most excited about?

a floral dress.

who's ready for spring?
i know many of you [who are experiencing extreme winter weather] are. and even though it may seem like winter is dragging on, don't worry...spring will come. and you better be ready for it. i picked up this floral dress from Patty's Closet in anticipation of all the fun spring pattern mixes i know we'll be seeing. i'll admit that florals are not at the top of my list (i mean, i'd rather be rocking leopard!), but ones with a black base are certainly easier for me to wear. and bonus that this one has hints of radiant orchid throughout.

and speaking of spring, have you entered the totally awesome spring giveaway yet? you can win a $500 amazon gift card (or paypal cash); second winner gets $100. you can buy a lotta floral dresses with that! scroll down to enter.

i am really looking forward to the weekend even though rain is in the forecast. it's another busy one for us with mini-she's speech competition, a poi-pounding session, mini-he wanting to see the lego movie, and me wanting to get a good run in, but it's still the weekend.

what's happening in your neck of the woods?

trending stripes + jello update.

bold and soft.
thick and thin.
black/white and colors.
stripes hit the runways again.
how will you be rocking this trend?

had the best time at my friend's beach house in haleiwa this weekend. we were blessed with perfect weather...sunny with cool breezes. the kids [nine of them] had fun body boarding and playing in the sand while we relaxed and talked story. thanks to my friend, L, for inviting us. i ended up making the jello wedges that i mentioned in my previous post and have
some tips to share after my first try.

into the great wide open...
- make sure lemons are firm and on the larger side.
the thicker the rind the better.
- one small package of jello (1 cup boiling water/1 cup cold water) filled five small lemons.
- use less water for firmer consistency (1/2 cup less).
- fill all the way to the top as it will shrink down.
- the type of fruit does affect the taste of the jello.
the lemon rind made the jello slightly bitter, which would have been perfect for the pink lemonade recipe i was originally going to make...but i ended up making non-alcoholic strawberry jello for the kids. orange fruit with orange jello might have
been a better choice.
slice and serve.
i forgot to take a picture, so i grabbed this
one from my friend's instagram (thanks, C!).
overall, they turned out ok, and the kids enjoyed them.
i will definitely be making these again.
