big blue: makapu'u lighthouse trail.

 this past weekend mini-she and i joined my friend and her family on the kaiwi shoreline trail...otherwise known as the makapu'u lighthouse trail. it's a 2-mile paved trail that leads up to spectacular views of the windward side of oahu. it's a great place to spot humpback whales as they travel through the channel between december and april. this moderate hike is a great workout for your legs because of the steady incline to the top. it was my first time on the trail, and i now call it the big blue...because all you see when you look out is blue sea.

you can't actually get to the little lighthouse,

but it's pretty against the blue backdrop.

manana and kaohikaipu islands to the right and

moloka'i in the far distance.

and...we're out!

little words today as i'm rushing out to meet the gang for a hike. i worked a few extra hours on monday so that i could leave early to meet them. yippee! so happy. have a great evening and catch up with you tomorrow.

faux-ever mine.

i didn't have to think twice about these [faux] leather shorts. even though they were a tad loose, i was sold on the color alone...my current black leather pair being slightly too dressy for summer. i envision these in a neutral palette of oversized sweaters, loose tees, and my leopard print sperry top-siders,

or paired with brightly colored tops and pretty slippers.

this is definitely going to be a summertime favorite.
