who says spring has to be all about the brights? if you tend to shy away from bright florals, take on spring with neutrals. remember, it's more important to feel comfortable and confident in what you're wearing, so go on and rock black this spring! i'm all about spring lips, tho...wearing creamy lip pencils 'toots' with a bit of 'shambolic' from LAQA & Co. if you prefer more shine, they just released four new lip lubes which have a high-gloss and lightly pigmented formula...perfect for summer when we tend to lighten up our makeup.

today is mini-he's birthday. of course, i was up all night making friggen cupcakes for his class, but i think they turned out alright despite the color printer malfunction. he's all about that minecraft, so these are supposed to be dirt/grass blocks in case ya didn't know. yeah, yeah, they're supposed to be dirt on the bottom, grass on the top, but this mama ain't got time for green frosting!

a week of leopard accents. shoes.

leopard shoes are my favorite way to integrate leopard into an outfit. because there are so many different styles of shoes, you are guaranteed to find one that suits your style and comfort level. start by pairing them with basic colors like i did here with black and white, then you can move on to colors and patterns as you feel comfortable. i've even paired them with other leopard prints here and here.

when it comes to kids' clothes, it seems girls have a lot more options. especially here in our warm, sunshiny state, the stylish option to layer boys up in collared shirts and sweaters or jackets...well, just isn't an option. (we're lucky if we can even get them to wear shirts on a hot day!). so with jeans, shorts, and tees as standard uniform, i try to make them fun tees and cool jeans with some killer shoes.

the other thing with kids? they grow too fast. all the clothes mini-he received as gifts years ago all-of-a-sudden fit. his t-shirt drawer is overflowing, and he has more shoes than any boy should have. i started him a 'closet' on the recently launched marketplace, because they grow too fast (www.btgtf.com), where i can sell or swap his pre-loved clothes, or buy new-to-him ones.

and for all you big kids (a.k.a. adults), you can start a closet on their sister site, because i shop too much.

whites and brights.

i have always loved the look of a crisp, white pantsuit.

unfortunately, they are difficult to buy. the pants need to fit perfectly, and the proportions need to be just right. since i recently found some white jeans that i love, i've been pairing it with my white blazer to create a makeshift pantsuit. i'm wearing it here with bright colors...a pink sweater and these awesome blue marne heels from JustFab.

black is always a classic, but white is forever fresh.

cupcakes we make last weekend for a friend's party.

yellow cupcakes cut in half for the buns, chocolate cupcake slices for the burger, and colored frosting for the ketchup, lettuce,

and mayo.  

sundae cupcakes...

marshmallow halves for the scoops of ice cream, then decorate.

popcorn cupcakes...

mini marshmallows snipped at the top. you can brush with yellow food coloring for "butter" or torch lightly for a toasted look, but we ran out of time.
