oomph [remix]. sporty sweatshirt.

who doesn't love a comfy sweatshirt? i'm all about comfortable pieces that can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.

in the past, i seem to have played it safe with this oversized-because-i-ordered-the-wrong-size sweatshirt by pairing it with black, white, or denim, then throwing in pops of color with my heels. so here's a fun mix with these bold leopard pants and sneaks.

which look would you rock?

a night at the beach house.

talk about roughing it.
my sister recently bought a house by the beach and got the keys on friday. even though the house was totally bare, we wanted to spend the last weekend there before the kids went back to school this week. so we packed up our sleeping bags, all the necessities (so we thought), and headed out after work. the house is great, the neighbors are friendly, the location is convenient to the stores...i know it's eventually going to be an amazing place to hang out. but that night? i couldn't sleep a wink on the ground, it was cold, we had no coffee maker, and no mirror...eek!
pics and details below.

wearing a fun top from Patty's Closet. you can't go wrong with versatile basic black blouses. i always look for something that sets them apart, like the cute shoulder cut-outs and buttons down the back on this one.

how did you spend the first weekend of 2014?

mini-she cooking burgers on the griddle since
the new stove is on its way.
the burgers were really good, except the girls didn't take into consideration how big the buns were!
this puzzle was our evening entertainment since there was no tv/cable yet.
early morning walk on the beach before heading back to the house for breakfast. the kids cooked for us again...eggs, bacon, and pancakes on the griddle.
this is the north shore's cold raging sea in the winter.

a week of red heels. sweatshirt.

i love the idea of a casual sweatshirt paired with dressy heels.
i envisioned a longer, knee-length, DIY denim cutoff (higher the stiletto, longer the hemlines in my book), but i never got around to that DIY. i made do with this pair, but you get the idea behind this casual / dressy juxtaposition.

did you hear about the elementary school clerk in georgia who persuaded a gunman to turn himself in? i'm sure she was hella scared, but she kept her cool and protected the lives of 800+ children. i literally teared up listening to the 911 recordings. kudos to that amazing woman.

what is your favorite fashion juxtaposition?

my favorite is the dark chocolate dipped coconut cookie.

a week of leopard accents. shoes.

leopard shoes are my favorite way to integrate leopard into an outfit. because there are so many different styles of shoes, you are guaranteed to find one that suits your style and comfort level. start by pairing them with basic colors like i did here with black and white, then you can move on to colors and patterns as you feel comfortable. i've even paired them with other leopard prints here and here.

do you rock leopard heels?

got sugar? these were pretty, but super sweet.

rolled up jeans.

come summer, there will be a lot of cute sandals and flats to show off, so i've been playing around with my cuffs lately...sometimes i like a wide cuff, sometimes thin, or sometimes i like it messily rolled up. bonus is when they have a contrasting color. you can check out my vine clip of JustFab's signature skinny
with a contrasting hem here.

and...JustFab's Girls' Night In promotion is all about denim.
i have two pairs and enjoy wearing them.

Firmoo glasses video review + GIVEAWAY [closed].

glasses are a fun and affordable way to change up your look.
i love to wear them, but i'm not willing to pay high prices for a pair that i don't need. i remember my sister spending $200-$300 dollars for her glasses...if only we knew about Firmoo back then. Firmoo, an online retailer of prescription and non-prescription glasses, understands this. they offer affordable, classic and fashionable frames without sacrificing the quality and accuracy of your lens prescription.

ordering is fast and easy....my purchase was completed in a matter of minutes, and my glasses arrived in a little over a week. these non-prescription, tortoise frame glasses exceeded my expectations. the quality was excellent, the frame sturdy, and the fit was comfortable.

hesitant to order glasses online? Firmoo introduces their
First Pair Free program. experience the quality firsthand by trying out your first pair for free (pay shipping only). already got your first pair? check out the video below for another opportunity to get a free pair.

december is gone, and in looking back at my resolutions,
here's a quick recap of the month:

and a few drinks with an old high school friend.
read - eek, no reading AGAIN this month.
one-on-one mini time - both minis were on break from school, so we spent a lot of time together. i did have some one-on-one time with mini-he as we put together all his lego sets.
try something new - check! learned some new crafts,
participated in a christmas card exchange hosted by
sunny days & starry nights, and made homemade salsa!
organize posts - check! caught up on a few reviews for the gea boot and the jola boot from JustFab, shared jane's addiction's latest album, and even got in a giveaway for some cool items that were part of the dobel tequila + perry farrell collaboration.
