friday, i took the morning off for a bit of exercise with one of my besties and her two girls...

...followed by a super yummy birthday lunch (thanks, L&S) at diamond head market & grill.

my neighbors also had a 2-day garage sale...the kids had a lemonade stand. too cute!

went to watch my niece perform at her dance competition at the hawaii convention center. they had an awesome number and took first place!

after the dance competition, i went to a little car show/meet and greet to see my friend's car. he built this porsche...can you see mini-he inside?

had a nice birthday dinner with them after the show at nico's. super yummy joel gott cabernet and swordfish below.

after helping my neighbors at the garage sale, we hit up a new place in our neighborhood for a much needed drink. i'm not a huge beer drinker, but found one out of the 35 or so beers that i liked.

and...on memorial day, we just chilled at home.

we're dog-sitting bear while my sister is away, and while he's normally a spoiled house dog, he's now staying outside with foxy brown. i know he's miserably hot, because he's been loving the water and is right there every time i turn on the hose. i ended up putting a sprinkler on for everyone, but bear was such a sprinkler hog (see instagram clip). not even foxy brown

could get a paw in.

mini-he was upset because bear kept hogging the sprinkler,

so i filled up a cooler and let him color the water

with food coloring. he was satisfied.

with the holiday season comes holiday parties. velour, sequins, and satin are festive and sometimes thought of as formal wear...but sequins and satin paired here with denim and slippers is something i might wear to a daytime party.

foxy brown was stuck to me like glue.

this is probably the first real post with the new hair.

i made a yummy turkey chili in the slow cooker for dinner.

then headed over to my neighbor's for cake and wine.

it was a good day.

those who follow me on instagram know that [my sister's dog] bear gave us quite a scare the other night. he ran away from home. if you met bear, you'd know that he is the sweetest, friendliest dog. he comes to the office every single day and, in a way, has become everyone's pet. there were reports that he was picked up by a brown van, and with no collar, tag, or chip at the time, we weren't sure he'd return. still, we combed the neighborhood till dark and posted fliers at 11pm. a sleepless night and many of my sister's tears later, she got the call. someone found bear walking around a nearby school.

i've been trying to find a classic red flannel for some time now. this one may not be the classic one, but it has studs...which make it even better.

mini-he pointed out that my spikes were missing their tips.
