a super weekend was had...birthday parties, swimming, football games, and potlucks, all before the storm hit. woke up this morning to stormy weather.

how was your weekend?

evening swim in a heated pool.

mini-he's final game at the real stadium, followed by a fun picnic. i filled 100+ water balloons that, of course, was gone in a matter of seconds. plus, the kids (and adults) danced and sang the evening away...

my latest craving is simple oversized tees.

i recently saw a picture of a loose white tee, cut up on the sides with a small navajo inspired print on the front. can't find the picture, but i can't stop thinking about it either. i was saving this black tee to make this one...as soon as i can figure out how and what to use for the cross. suggestions welcome. in the mean time, i widened the neck, chopped off the bottom, and fringed the sleeves to satisfy this morning's craving for something similar to the vision of the white tee

in my mind.

been caught treating.

don't be surprised if you see me carrying this tray of coffee everyday this week. starbucks is doing their treat receipts again. my co-worker usually grabs his morning coffee and gives me his receipt. i've been good about bringing home-brewed coffee to work in the morning. unfortunately, it's weak (not by choice!)...so when the afternoon rolls around,

i'm usually jonesing for a strong cup.

it works out.

i hope he gives me his receipt tomorrow, too.

we're heading to the beach after work for dinner. on a weekday.

 the weekends have been flying by.

the good thing is that they have been filled

to the brim with good times.

in between the weird summer rain showers,

we have been blessed with glorious sunshine as well

and have been taking full advantage of it.

we spent both days at the beach swimming, stand-up paddling, body surfing, and picnicking.

i was even able to meet up with some friends

for an adult beverage...or two.

i got these shorts during the birthday shopping spree a couple months ago. it was a down-to-the-last-second impulse grab that i knew i probably wouldn't wear. although i love the look of

high-waisted shorts, it makes my already short torso

look even shorter.

keeping it short today as i'm dealing

with a crisis at the office.

this used to be one of my favorite striped dresses.

it has cute diagonal insets at the waist...but

i've slacked on exercising and have become too self conscious

to wear it.

found an unexpected solution with this crochet top.

it hides camouflages just enough but still allows

the stripes to show thru.

and, of course, i had to throw in some leopard.

there once was a person in my life who

used to always buy me t-shirts.

not sure why, because i never used to wear t-shirts.

i'm pretty finicky about my tees, but i generally like them oversized or at least loose-fitting.

anyways, this tee kind of says it all.

it's scary all the crap junk food we've been eating lately.

and the rainy weather has not been conducive to

our work out schedule either.

fast track to summer.

i realized that summer is fast approaching,

and i'm not quite prepared.

it's funny the things we do to get beach ready:

tone up our bodies, search for the perfect suit,

and, uh...tan privately first...so that we can

hit the beach already tanned??

a few years ago i didn't think about any of this. with sunny weather year round, we're always beach ready.

however, since acquiring mini #2,

i have become a bit more self-conscious.

in addition, having two minis doesn't leave me with much free time.

so, i try to soak up the sun whenever and wherever i can,

by wearing my suits while paying in the yard or washing the car,

snacking on fruits instead of those chocolate chip cookies,
squeezing in some exercises while sitting at my desk,

doing squats and lunges while brushing my teeth.

things like that...
