jobsite.

it's not uncommon for me to wear shoes to work. days when i have to go to a jobsite, it's comfortable (and most times a requirement) to wear covered shoes. unfortunately, most of my jeans are long, and it's always a struggle to find something to wear. in addition, i'm stuck feeling too casual and frumpy when i return to the office. so a simple switch to my black coated denims was my solution. rolled up and paired with a long sleeve tee, i feel casual enough to walk around a construction site, and i can throw on my black heels and feel pulled together back in the office. this roomy uptown tote has tons of room for my notebook, drawings, camera, and tape measure.

it's much easier to dress up than to dress down...don't you think?

my friend gave me a zipfizz to try after our walk yesterday. supposedly it's loaded with vitamin b to give you energy.
i liked the taste of this one.

motto.

simple is my motto this year.
especially in the wardrobe area;
it has made mornings so much easier.

i have an early meeting tomorrow, so i'm off to bed.

there's a new post up on mobile morsels...
if you use a laptop, you may want to check it out.

calm before the storm.

it's hard to get back into the groove of things at work since the holidays, but there are busy times ahead and i feel like this
is the calm before the storm. time to buckle down.

speaking of storms, the crazy wind kept messing with my camera's focus...and my hair. good news is that i've been able to wear all my favorites...furs and sweaters and boots.

happy aloha friday!

simple.

whew, what a great weekend.
hope everyone enjoyed theirs by eating a lot of good food, spending time with family and friends, and even checking a few things off their christmas lists. that's what we did!
scroll down for the deets.

did anyone brave the malls on black friday?
what kind of deals did you score?

preschool luncheon for mini-he...they sang a few songs before lunch and even prepared a special dessert for us.
hosted and cooked a simple thanksgiving lunch at our house for my sister's in-laws. turkey and baked salmon on the menu, followed by bingo for prizes.
i was one number shy of a blackout!
next up was a catered thanksgiving dinner at my sister's house. honey roasted bone-in ham & honey roasted turkey with mochi rice, veggies, salad, shrimp/egg rolls/wings/dumplings appetizers, and pumpkin crunch on the menu.
we also celebrated my sister's birthday.
and finally, a bit of black friday shopping.
stocked up on my favorite button-ups and long-sleeved tees.

le ombre.

while out and about this weekend, mini-she and i made an observation...women everywhere were wearing their scarves. we had wind, rain, and chilly evenings this weekend making it the perfect opportunity for me to break out my scarves. everyone else had the same idea. guess that's how hawaii does winter.

i am absolutely loving this ombre chain wrap bracelet.
its big links make it a nice statement piece, but it's still light enough to be comfortable. the oomph-worthy part is that
i can wear it with silver or gold, and versatility is
always a plus in my book.

happy mistakes.

gone are the days of my crazy hair color. having worked in a salon, i've had every color from red to purple to blue to orange. but since acquiring the minis, i've opted to go natural simply because it's easier to maintain. every few months,
i do an all over color just to even out my ends that
can get lighter from the sun.
but...if there's one thing i can never remember, it's my hair [dye] color. i try to remember the number or the girl's face on the box, but as soon as i am standing in front of all those boxes, i draw a blank. i tried writing it down, but can never remember where i wrote it down. so, there has been some variation in my natural color...like the last time.
a little too reddish-brown.
i took advantage of this mistake and tried a DIY ombre by coloring the crown portion of my hair with a slightly darker-than-natural color. the result is subtle, but i like it.

what do you think of ombre hair? have you ever tried to diy?

this gold ring (above) is my go-to when i want a decorated hand with just enough bling. i have been looking for something similar in silver and finally found it at JGOOD (below).
it fits perfectly and arrived in two business days.
